It's rained non-stop for over 24 hours now. I'm so miserable - this is why I left Scotland!! Poor little doggo isn't happy either
Awwww. Well, there is light at the end of the tunnel at least. Nice, comfortable temps and dry, sunny weather should begin on Wednesday and then last quite a while. (I can't remember what part of CH you're in though!)

I have actually found meteoblue's 14-day extended forecasts to be fairly spot-on, at least in terms of temperature and rain trends.

Exactly. The vegetation and wildlife are breathing a huge sigh of relief and the water levels in the lakes are rising.

I love a good rainy spell and it’s not going to last forever.

Come on now, we can't really complain until it rains solid for a week.

Read something on 20min about snow falling on the Alps. Currently, Furka, Grimsel, Nufenen and Simplon passes are closed.

Thanks for that! I plan on riding the motorcycle to Andermatt on Wednesday, but I think that everything will be clear by then

"The snowfall limit, down to 2000 meters (1500 depending on the valley), has repercussions on traffic: the Alpine passes of Furka, Susten, Grimsel, Gotthard, Simplon and Nufenen were closed on Monday. A reassessment of the situation will follow on Tuesday morning."

And cold enough overnight for the central heating to come on a bit this morning. Mother Nature must be drunk this year.

The mountaintops in the Bellinzona valleys have a decent amount of snow on them today

Re: Weather!

Very hot again today. Went to choir other side of the mountain and got caught out on way back in a massive storm- all main roads closed, had to go via tiny mountain roads in forest- constant lightening and forking, deluge and massive hail stones. THAT was quite something! Glad to be home safe- will check the car tomorrow

Re: Weather!

It looks like today may have been the last day of hot summer weather for the Zurich area...

Much cooler temps are expected for tomorrow, with a high of only 20 or 22, and also quite a bit of rain (yay! we need it!). And the nice, early Autumn temps are supposed to stick around.

The Raetikon gave us a bath last night, with lots of forked lightning. The roses I cut back to the nubs 7 weeks ago in prep for hols are now 6 feet tall and covered with blooms!

Same here- woke up in the middle of the night and was happy to hear it. Trees have been dying on their feet around here.

I am also very happy for the rain today! It's nice and cool out there as well...

Many of the trees here have looked awful all summer. I really hope that's not going to become the norm.

My son left this morning for a week of camp up in the mountains, with his class, which means I'll have a quiet house all week... Yay!

Re: Weather!

Clouds cleared enough to see the surrounding mountains covered with the first snowfall of the season!! Cold front coming in...high tomorrow of 13 and more snow up there, and some of it's only at 1600 M. Then we get 4 days of summer.

Re: Weather!

Yup... I think it might be time to get out the sweaters.

I absolutely love this time of year. The sun feels good, and it's perfect weather for going for walks.

Also, nice and cool in the evenings... Good for a warm cup of tea and/or a bubble bath.

Yup. I’m in 7th heaven with this weather (lots of love emojis not available here).
I have started to call it “real weather”.

Hopefully that’s not just an anecdote in the years to come.

Lovely day again, but cooler so great for massive walk, watching all the birds of prey enjoying riding the wind. But early pm, very high winds and raining buckets.

Another gorgeous autumn day- and pleasantly warm. But we woke up to first frost this morning- which the sun soon burnt away.

As you somewhere are “up there” - did you witness the Aurora borealis (Northern lights) last night? The weather conditions and solar activity should also be perfect tonight to see this seldom happening in Switzerland.

They were beautiful from the Baltic Ocean here around Sweden.
