Re: Weather!

Quite a storm raging around here at the moment. It's fantastic. It's been going on for about 45 minutes and shows no signs of leaving so far. ( it's a stationary storm according to the meteosuisse app)

Re: Weather!

Forecast totally wrong for here. Supposed to be heavy rain this afternoon with thunderstorms. Just had one which grumbled a bit and then moved on and didn't rain at all. Meteocentrale is usually pretty good, but lately they and Meteosuisse have been useless for any accurate forecast here.

Re: Weather!

Bizarre as no strom up here. Last night there was amassive strom over the mountains over Lake Neuchâtel it seemed, but none here bar a little rain.

Same here. Looking at the Weather Pro forecast (tends to be more accurate than SRF IME) we should be having storms right now in the Big Z. However looking at the radar it would seem all the storms are missing Zürich by around 30 - 40Km.

Having said that we really need a good storm here just to clear the air - it's not hot, but really stuffy at the moment.

Re: Weather!

Has started raining here now, but I doubt we're going to get the 10l/m2 they were forecasting for today earlier this week.

Even this latest isn't right.

Misery-Courtion (1721)
Severe weather warning level orange due to thunderstorm
valid from: Sun June 14, 2015 04:15 pm
valid to: Sun June 14, 2015 05:45 pm
valid for: all elevations

On 2015/06/14 at 16:15 local time a severe thunderstorm of level orange was detected. The center is located in the community of Grolley. The storm is nearly stationary. Regional heavy rain and storm gusts are possible. Local hail of small size can not be rouled out. There is a risk of local flash flooding! The lightning activity is weak. Following communities are also affected by the severe thunderstorm: Léchelles, Avenches, Belfaux, Noréaz, Prez-vers-Noréaz, Cousset, Montagny-la-Ville, Corcelles-près-Payerne, Rosé.

In fact is just grumbled a bit and had cleared off by 10 to 5.

Local weather is difficult to predict with unstable conditions and so thunderstorms can generate very quickly without much warning.

Re: Weather!

Watch the ants. If they proceed in an anticlockwise direction, the weather will be wet. If they proceed in a clockwise direction, the weather will be dry. If they do not proceed at all, they have all died and it is probably very cold or very hot.

I thought everybody knew this, but evidently not.

I despair for the state of education in the 1970s.

If the ants are dead, it just means that they have been squashed by all the cows sitting down together, under trees.

Sorry to hear that Sutter. My cousin in the US had her house flooded a couple of years ago. They got everything back to normal, but got flooded again at the beginning of June. So it all has to be done again.

Oh dear, hope you and the cellar are ok.

Nothing here, just a few rumbles of thunder earlier and some dark clouds.

Re: Weather!

I was midway through a MTB ride last yesterday afternoon when the temperature dropped, the wind picked up and I thought "Uh-oh". I managed to get under some shelter in Tafers before the hailstorm hit; big as marbles they were.
Had to get the wife to come and pick me up.

The forecast was absolutely spot on here for both Saturday and Sunday here. They even got the timing of the storms to within about 15 minutes. The hailstones were anazing but fortunately didn't do any damage.

It is lovely and fresh and it did wonders for the garden but they can turn the tap off now.

Hope you've got your cellar sorted out Sutter. It's horrible when water gets in there, it happened to us once in Hanover and we had to bin loads of stuff.
