Re: Weather!

Swimming in the lake at 8.00 p.m. yesterday and enjoying a bottle of rosé on the beach, drinking tea this morning with a fleece on...

Have I done a virtual trip to Britain during my sleep?

Yep, yesterday was gorgeous and warm- today grey and drizzly - colder but not too cold!

Re: Weather!

Not cold here at around 24° but pretty grey.
Don't grumble too much as the hot weather is set to make a reappearance over the next few days.

Drove friends back to the airport this morning, they're going back to Britain and kept saying how warm the rain was! I guess it's something.

Re: Weather!

And now back to "tropical heat". Off goes the fleece, on come the swimming shorts!

The Swiss weather is not following the required moderation and discretion stated in the Swiss Met Office Book of Rules and Regulations on National Weather!

Certainly isn't! I'd complain if I were you. Me, I'm too exhausted by the heat to do so.

Supposed to get rain here Sunday/Monday, but I hope the predicted rainfall for Monday isn't correct - 23l/m2! Sounds like a deluge!

Re: Weather!

If there had to be one service in Switzerland that is imprecise, it would be Météo Swiss But frankly, no service is when it comes to predicting local rainfall

Re: Weather!

In Britain, it is! "And now, the weather for the East Midlands: after a few isolated showers, more substantial downpour will develop around Nottingham late in the afternoon, with a lot of mist and fog in parts. In the evening, clouds will break a little to allow a fine drizzle to take over the next day in the whole country..."

And they always get it right!

Excluding UK and ROI :> Over there rain is always wide-spread, driven by atlantic lows which are nice and predictable But again, they are imprecise as it goes about sunshine :P

They are called "bright intervals" in U.K. weather jargon!

Funny that today I saw the thermometer hit 36C and yet MS hadn't issued heat warning It was and still is all green (except for Ticino of course).

Re: Weather!

23.7 degrees outside. We had a massive thunderstorm roll past by the edge of Lausanne in the direction of Bernese Alps.

If I had not seen the aftermath with my own eyes in London, do not think I would have believed it.

It was the first time I remembered that many people were advised against going to work

Quite a few actually. Came up as a question on "Pointless" the other day - who was the commentator who made a faux pas about a storm in 1987. It wasn't a pointless answer, not even the lowest on the board.

We went over to Pontarlier yesterday and it was lovely as clouds started appearing and just before we went to lunch the wind came up making a cooling breeze. Was hot here when we got home, but again had clouds and wind during the evening which helped cool things down a bit.
