Re: Weather!

The storm was pretty strong when it rolled through Basel last night. Scared both of the cats (one of them usually isn't affected by noise, including fireworks). Good strong rain, some wind... and now today is much more tolerable. I'm loving the heavily overcast sky

...With the famous exception of Michael Fish' weather blooper in 1987!! Anyone remembers that storm??
Don't remember the storm as I slept through it but certainly remember the aftermath of it. I couldn't go to work that day as the trains into London weren't running.
I don't think Michael Fish has ever been allowed to forget that!

No storms have arrived here yet, the wind got up a bit yesterday afternoon but then it went away again and took the menacing looking clouds with it.

Re: Weather!

Cooler and very pleasant, and sort of raining on and off. Just as well we secured the use of our Church for Tuesday evening HANG and violin concert in case of rain. Hope musicians driving from Budapest are not having to drive through storms all the way...

Slept through it too, in fact did not wake until 10:30 as there was no electricity for my alarm clock. Could not go to work either due to roads blocked by fallen trees.

The forecast for Tuesday is good so I don't think you'll have any issue there.

It's been sort of raining all morning here, the sort of fine rain that's really good for the garden as it has time to soak in properly.

Re: Weather!

Thanks, yes Tuesday looks fine, everything crossed.

We will be filming with them at the Creux-du-Van tomorrow afternoon- so hope there is no thunder and lighting- they will be playing late afternoon at Le Soliat and have a fondue there- if anyone wants to listen to them.

Daniel Waples Hang in Balance and Flavio Lopez.

Re: Weather!

It's another sunny day here. The ground really could do with some rain though, the other day a tree in the Kurpark in Baden fell over, because of the dry conditions!

Leave that poor guy alone! It was the MetOffice who screwed up the forecast. The guy was simply a bearer of the message. The models were all crappy then and could not predict anything accurately enough to base the prognosis on. The storm should be anticipated by synoptics but they lacked knowledge and tools. Strangely though French models runs were more precise but French meteorologists hadn't warned their British colleagues :> How typical :P

Re: Weather!

Some folk are never satisfied.

Just sit back and think of all those watering cans full of water you are not going to have to carry around this evening and count your blessings. That's what I'm doing anyway.

Rain and everything open = nice breeze.
Next week's supposed to be hot(ish) again and then temps will go down.

Noooooo! My son is finally coming from Edinburgh to get his two week-dose of sunshine, this is not sounding good if Scottish weather comes with him to Geneva!

Re: Weather!

Our musicians arrived at midnight- having driven in rain and storms for 14 hrs- lovely day now, cooler than of late and part cloud- more dramatic for vids and photos to be taken this afternoon at Le Creux-du-Van.

This was the sunset last night, with remnants of mist over the Jura. You had a lucky escape, Odile!
