I definitely must check out your spot. Thanks for the tip | | | | | Joux and St Point (France) are much larger than Les Taillères- I learnt to skate at Les Taillères- in the Old Days when my dad was still allowed to drive on the lake with the old car, a 2CV- with ropes at the back pulling by bro and myself, at full pelt, either on skates or on sledges, and then do hand-brake turns- now that was fun- For some reason it is no longer allowed wonder why I love swimming there in Summer, as it is a peat lake your skin is so soft afterwards- but sometimes you can feel a huge pike brushing your leg!

Half a foot overnight and now snowing very heavily, huge snow flakes. Just up-dating before I go out and help shovelling. Thank goodness we have got a good snow blowing machine as the area to clear is large- will probaly have to do it again twice today and tomorrow morning as we have the old folk from t'village coming for lunch.

we have our first snow ever for the kids and they are a little surprised it's wet
I'm told closer to the lake they don't have it still, about 550 meters up so not too high |

Only rain here (605m), it's still a little too warm for snow - 4.8C at the moment. Just put the central heating back on again though - it's cold!

OK, 2 hours shovelling (great for weight loss I'm sure) and still snowing heavily, so will start all over again when we get back from U3A!

Just wait until it stops and then blow it off | | | | | My take on it too JakuB, but I guess if you're getting feet of snow then keeping it down to reasonable levels makes sense. But I could never understand my previous neighbour being out clearing snow while it fell when we only ended up with a few inches. Just meant he had to do another clean up once the snow stopped falling to get rid of what had accumulated after he did it the first time around. |

Well there was about 20cm when we got up, so started to clear and then it began to snow heavily- so finished the job as you say, it is easier to do smaller amounts that wait until there is a couple of feet...
It stopped in the afternoon whilst we were out, so will clear the rest tomorrow am- wondering if it will snow again during the night.

depends on th4e kind of snow- if it is heavy or wet (known to Brits as the 'wrong kind of snow') it just clogs up the machine and is a total pain. Front of house and part patio (dog does need somewhere to 'go' - still have to be done by hand.

It seems that temperature above 10C will return to Vaud next week:> Winter has yet to come. Although there is already a lot of snow in western alps - maybe it will hold.
