I'm looking for a cute but worthy pair of rain boots.
(Yesterday, out walking a dog, I came in and my shoes were soaked through)
Landi wellies. 19.95

Not so sure about the cute bit - they come in standard issue field green - but worthy they definitely are. Mine have trudged through the swamps fields of Ausserschwyz daily for years.

(If you are walking long distances on pavement, perhaps add an insole for support. )

Re: Weather!

Because of my 'peg' leg, I can't walk any distance with wellies on. Much prefer to spend a bit more money for good Goretex walking boots with proper support and laces- which I will wear for years. Horses for courses.

Re: Weather!

Mrs Odile, if I may advise, prosthetic legs also exist in robust mould- and rust-resistant material that can be used under rain and in floods. If you insist on Goretex, there might be coverings available. Ask your physiotherapist.

Re: Weather!

Thanks, so kind. I should not have used 'peg' leg- despite a terrible accident, I still have my own leg, but quite a bit shorter and with permanent damage to knee which in my 60s is getting worse.

The Landi wellies are great for garden work and I also have a lined pair of Landi boots for winter for cleaning the snow outside. But for me they are not okay for dog walking as I need boots with better support and which I can put my orthotics in. I second the advice to look for boots with Goretex. Most have removable insoles as well so you can air them well.

It's lovely and sunny here too but seems to be a bit windy at present. The 'bise' is due to calm down this more though.
I hope so or all the cyclists will be getting blown off their bikes in the 'Tour de Romandie'.

Fairly sunny day ahead. Looks like to go to GHANA, I mean the Zürich Gold-Coast for some wine "Degustationen" tastings up there

Re: Weather!

yaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy loved it today!!! <3 been outside loads. I did feel a little self conscious as apparently the only person in Zug wearing shorts and a cami???!! Everyone else seemed to be wearing business attire and jackets, even saw some scarves! On days like today back in the UK everyone has everything hanging out haha

Re: Weather!

Glorious indeed, been pottering in garden all day cutting big circles around the fruit trees to seed the wild flower I bought last year. Hard work- but with the sun it as lovely.

You've got to keep a couple of layers on otherwise you won't have anything to take off when it gets really hot.
I guess today was really hot by Manchester standards.

It was really funny in our local playground today: some kids were still wearing their winter coats, while others were in shorts and tshirt

Sun is poking through at last and it feels much warmer ... swallows and house-martins are out looking for those elusive flies- let's hope they find something to eat.

Time to get my boots on and go and start picking those wonderful St Georges Mousserons (mushrooms) from our field- yum.
Waiting for this year's funny bird pics

Re: Weather!

So one day of sunshine and suddenly the forum is full of resurrected threads about dating sites, saucy bras and businesses with innuendos in their adverts. We need Sir David Attenbough to narrate this, either it's rutting season or there are some thread-necromaniacs on here.

Re: Weather!

What is the most accurate website for forecast in Switzerland? I used met office in the UK, which does do international forecasts, but I would imagine local forecasts to be more accurate?

Re: Weather!

Landi - there's a weather app. What's good for a farmer in CH must be the ultimate criterion.

Re: Weather!

I use these two:

http://www.meteosuisse.admin.ch/web/en.html

If you click on Weitere Lokalprognosen and then enter your postcode you'll get the local forecast too.

http://www.meteocentrale.ch/

Again, enter your postcode for local forecast.

Both have English as well as Swiss languages.
