April plecień because intertwined: a little bit of winter, some years

Re: Weather!

Woke up to ca 15cm of heavy wet snow blanketing the garden.

The fruit trees, all of which were in flower and/or leaf, are bent over at alarming angles. Ditto the Johannesbeeren, and the early blueberries. The late blueberries were not yet in flower, so we just might save one of two of them.

My lovely spring bulbs are somewhere under the mess, probably crushed.

Trying to garden on the Dark Side of the Rossberg is an exercise in heartbreak.

Why do I do it?

More snow and -2 degrees forecast for tonight.

Got one very sulky cat on my hands who can't understand why he's not allowed out until tomorrow.

This damned whether makes winter tires illegal one week and back to legal the next one
Why would they be illegal?

Probably because if you have an accident in winter while driving with summer tyres on the insurance company is unlikely to pay up.

Because insurance dogs will sniff a good business when you use tyres outside of their specifications and take part in an accident?

He was talking about winter tires, not summer tires.

I and many others use winter tires year round, they aren't illegal to use in summer (except in Italy, and only if low-speed rated (<120 kph) and used on the highway).

Really? Try to reason with the insurer. Good luck with that.

I'm not mean. -2 is getting too cold for a cat, especially when he's already shed his winter coat. He had to go to the vets for a booster today anyway, and is now off out with the boys in the sun.
