Re: Weather!

Nothing here yet, but it's looking grim. Just checked the meteocentrale forecast and we have an orange thunderstorm alert out until around 9.30am. So we could get some bangs and flashes soon.

0853 - raining now. Just had a flash and a small grumble. Don't think it's going to do more though. We might be on the edge of it.

Re: Weather!

The only worthwhile thing about this weather is regular unmanned sky-high-pressure car wash.

Re: Weather!

Driving through Aargau on the highway this morning, I don't think I've ever seen rain this heavy. It overwhelmed my wipers and some cars were crawling at 20 km/h with their hazards on. Scary stuff

Tell me about it - I was walking in it and I'm still drying out.

The Swiss summer has arrived - and in force.

Re: Weather!

24deg C yesterday with full sunshine and 14deg C today with absolutely no trace of the sun. Quite a range... couple that with the heavy yet intermittent torrent, it is quite a sight.
Winter-Summer-Spring(brief)-Summer-Winter again(?)

Look at the radar here: http://www.meteoswiss.admin.ch/home.html?tab=rain

Looks like steady progression of storm/heavy rain cells from west...It will be like that until the end of day.

Not much to curse about this year, eih?

Strangely it is very different within 1-2 km. Last night we had a little hail (while sunny), followed by some rain and back to sunshine here at the edge of Winterthur, while I got a call that my chinese food would be delivered a bit late due to traffic chaos in the city. The guy showed up and said "nice weather you got here" and told me cars don't drive anymore in some part of the town 'cause the water is as high as the wheels. Weird. During night we had flashes of summer lighning, which was nice. Or maybe that was lightning reflecting from an other heavy storm in the city-center? LOL.

There is nothing strange about it. Storm cells can be highly localized, especially in mountains. Usually clear line between heavy rain and dry weather can be observed.

U mad? Two months of temperatures over 25C to even 38C (in the sun on the motorway) and scarcely no rain you call no summer?

25? More like over 30C day after day after day. About the longest 8-9 weeks of my life. So glad when it ended. What little rain we did get only made the humidity worse and did nothing to actually bring the temperature down a bit.
