SBB causes huge noise by doing night work and refuses to compensate inhabitants
I am resident on Ohmstr, direct on the Oerlikon railyway station.
The SBB has been constructing the rails since march this year.
Since last two weeks (from 23.8.2013), SBB started renovating the rails in the night ( Gleise 5+6 ). From 22:00 - 06:00, the workers heavily worked on the construction sites emitting huge noises (drilled the grounds, cutting irons).
The night work disturbs my normal sleep heavily and harms my health.
When I contacted the SBB, the answer is that the SBB does this project to meet the expanding travelling needs and some work can only be done in the night because of saftey reasons. Besides, they get permission to do the construction and since there're many residents nearby they can't pay any compensation (otherwise the project will be too expensive). They added that as residents living near railway station, we should have already benefited a lot by the close access to railway and should sacrifice for the future development.
I understand some work of SBB have to be done during night for safty reason. However, as residents, I don't want to bear the noise voluntarily. Now for sake of my health, I have to spend further time looking for new room now and move as quickly as possible.
