Yes and thats effectively what im saying in a way, All women know that men prefer long hair over short, so when a woman does get a short haircut, she is essentially giving the middle finger to men....Liberation?
Hey Number 7,

Thanks for reminding me it's time for a haircut.

By the way, there are also some men who look darn sexy with longer hair.

Re: Short Haired Women

I didn't look at it that way, Number 7!!!
It is more practical and it doesn't look bad. I had long hair for years, but my hair is rebellious and I always had to do something about it (mainly straighten it) before leaving my house, so I won't look as if I have seen a wolf or smth. every time... Of course one has the alternative to wear it in a pony tail, or make a bun (I was never good at this) but don't know, it got boring and I looked like a school girl. (had that in school for years)
Now it is much simpler, takes a lot less time to make it look neat(er)..
No, it is not about any hidden statement. Practicality, mostly.

P.S. Thanks for making me aware of the potential signals I might send..I guess.

Re: Short Haired Women

I always loved women with long hair, but when I met my OH, she had her hair cutted short.

It's darn sexy.

Re: Short Haired Women

Sorry, Zarumi - I didn't mean to offend you.
Each to his own.

My hair is medium short, fringe long, sometimes pinned back. It has some natural curl, though sometimes I straighten it. It has a lot of movement and volume due to the layering, this makes a soft frame for the face.
It is far from perfect, though.

I have been told by hairdressers that long hair drowns my face. So I keep it shorter, trying to vary the style from time to time.

I read that long hair is loved because of the tradition which equated it with youth and virginity. In some countries, young women wear their hair long and then keep it pinned up after marriage.

Hey don't be so fussy. Your text was hard to understand due to a lack of punctuation, spelling mistakes and bit of dubious grammar.
You do write well, but sometimes I have to reread you to understand what you mean to say.

Reader's brain make up for writer's weakness. It worked with you, but I am not surprised it doesn't with some other people.

It only works with me because I take the time to read you.
You're quite brilliant in linguistics and philosophy.
But.... professor.... be lenient, reading you is sometimes an effort.

It's not the long hair that makes a woman beautiful you know. A beautiful woman is still beautiful whether her hair is long or short.
Beauty is very subjective in any case.
If beauty is very subjective then maybe it is the hair that makes the woman beautiful. How could we ever know?

I am usually too busy to keep my head neat though, at the end of the day..I don't think it matters much. I like bun on a girl, especially if she is a handful. It's a nice contrast.

Perhaps, but to do her justice and in her defense, there is no reasonable justification to care about this whole thread.

Clever. Same answer, but pretty much only coz people communicate.

You care about how others look. Everyone does. But it can be tricky to base one's preferences on image. Didn't we have laundry lists of requirements on men here before, that's probably worse. I understand you prefer chicks with long hair. Me too. But I have my image for weird reasons, not only aesthetics, since it feels good when it flows, since there is more of me, since it's easier maintenance when one nails down the routines, since I was not as visible on a stage and could focus on strings, since it pushes people not apply the usual annoying stereotypes when trying to figure out what a girl is like..long blond hair does feed stereotypes about personality, it's entertaining. But it's just hair. I know you are not trying to contradict that.

A lot of what has become fashionable in the last fifteen years has been adapted from porn imagery. This started with the trend of extremely high heels, followed by breaking the general rule "either lots of cleavage or lots of leg but not both" and the rising prominence of long, obviously colored hair. One might argue that the comebackof modernised corsets belongs in this movement.

These trends, combined with the huge transparency trend from the 90ies led to a general "pornography fashion" visible on everyday streets. Even middle school yards reflect those trends nowadays. I don't care about it, I will never tell a woman how to dress, I am just amused.

What if the short hair trend was just a way out of porn imagery in fashion? Trends are, by definition, changing and long hair might survive or come back in a different setting that porn aesthetics. We'll see.

Here's my attempt. Or to make it easier:

Porn. Porn. More porn. Women dress like porn stars. Short hair is a backlash against Porn.

PS: With that analysis, I'm glad you're not a middle school teacher!

What, something like this?

I actually agree with you but cannot see how the trend will escape from porn aesthetics.

Umm, so where do all the female porn-stars with short hair fit in all this?

Are they lesbians?
