I knew that the responses would be that I was moaning... but that's not the case at all. Just that there often seems to be a lot of negativity in reply to some comments on here. My post wasn't actually a response to something, but an opening discussion point! | This user would like to thank tobleronelover for this useful post: | |

Sometimes people come on here and ask if they can get along on Fr 10'000 per month, and this really upsets a lot of people.
We give free advice here, but some rich people ask for advice, don't like the result they are given, and then start complaining.
So it does take both sorts: we have to take the rough and the smooth. Personally I have about 12 members on my black list, I only see their vitriol and insults when someone quotes them. Maybe you can try that idea for size?

Either you're got no idea what you're talking about, or you do actually read this forum a lot but are too tight to bother contributing whilst expecting everyone else to do that for you and be polite at the same time.
However, you also seem to conflate two issues (maybe this is how you keep your post count down) moaning about forum members such as yourself and also moaning about people moaning about RAV claimants.
Maybe consider breaking your post down into three separate troll posts? See, I'm so helpful.

Ok... So the whole point of this post was not to get the wind up anybody's sail, nor to bitch about anyone in particular. I was just saying that I noticed that there were quite a lot of sarcastic and negative replies to some messages, using the RAV post as an example.
I understand that it can be infuriating if people complain about having run out of petrol in their Ferrari, and also it can be equally infuriating if you get a flat on your bicycle. But that never stopped me talking (face to face) with people with either issue.
I might not post often on here because I had a very busy job, but like I said in my first post, this want supposed to be a dissection of my profile or personality, however a thank you to the admin team because as an non-regular user of the site I still find it extremely helpful and useful.

It is true that this forum sometimes is "very Hitler" as another user put it a couple of years and threads ago.
I guess you live with it or you stop posting. Look at me: I have been a member for years, have been giving good advice in many (altough, agreed, not the most) cases and nobody even green reps me. On the contrary, I lost almost all of my points because of one single j*.
So take it easy, the people you meet here may or may not be representative for the expat community, I can tell you that many British and American expats that I have met have VERY mixed feelings about this place.

| | Re: English Forum | Quote: | | | | | I was reading an article regarding the RAV and how some people were angry that somebody was made redundant and had to claim from the RAV the money that they are legally allowed to take from this insurance mechanism. Was it this poor guys fault that he lost his job? Probably not. Was it his fault that due to his larger salary he took an apartment which probably costs more than a WG that other people have. Definitely not. Is it also his fault that according to his salary his cost of living also went up. Probably not. | | | | | I agree with you in some parts, and yes the RAV always stirs up trouble because a lot of people just try to abuse it.
But in answer to your questions:-
Yes it was his fault for taking a more expensive apartment just because he had a large salary, was it his fault for losing his job - probably not.

| | | | | So why would they have mixed feelings? It doesn't make sense to me. You either like the forum or you don't; you either contribute or you don't; and if you don't like then don't come here. End of story.
And btw most of the expats I know don't even know the forum exists.
