Which is half of the official (Latin) term for it - so it's not a correct term for Switzerland.

German: Official - Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft; short - Schweiz
French: Official - Confédération suisse; short - Suisse
Italian: Official - Confederazione Svizzera; short - Svizzera
Rumantsch: Official - Confederaziun svizra; short - Svizra
Latin: Official - Confoederatio Helvetica; short - Helvetia
English: Official - Swiss Confederation; short - Switzerland

Link

In French you can also use the more elegant "Confédération helvétique", the literary version of the Confédération suisse (official).

I've met a few Itals who said the weather is not always good in April. Unless you go to Sicily or something. Oh wait, is that in Ital too?

It isn't raining in me and it isn't raining in Mr. L either. Maybe it is just raining in other Swiss.

True. Ital food made by Ital in Ital is excellent, but Franc food made by Franc in Franc is out of this world.

Ital is best for me. I like Fren wine though, even more when it is free Fren wine.

I'd agree with this - It can feel like a personal attack rather than a bit of social banter. Which is why I dont contribute as much as I supposedly should.
I recently posted a comment on the thread about the castration of cats... all i said was that it could be worse as I thought that the Swiss like to eat cats. (Referring to a new article in the swiss news about this)

Even though i thought my post was harmless it was immediately deleted with the reason of "trolling". Now I quite like to participate in a discussion and at the beginning try to find the "culture" of the board. so it was more to test the waters ...

So now I just tend to read the comments here ... but my first impression of this forum is:

1) There are few here who will always jump to defend switzerland even if a contrary opinion is also valid. (Maybe this comes from living in Switzerland to long as the Swiss cannot take criticism of any sort.)

2) Make one , even if small error in your post then a small group of "vigilantes " here will jump on it and try to make a big deal of it.

3) There is very little effort to engage with new people ...

4) its very "Swiss" in character

and now will probably come the usual Swiss type answer ... "if you don`t like it then leave"

bye all and have fun

We have sharks in these EF waters.

I can understand your remarks, but to be fair, a lot of new members get a lot of help too. Keep looking and you might find one or two. Be careful of your toes though!

The only stance you voice in your other posts is contempt for the residents of this country, there's not even one positive post.
