I have to say that I have felt very welcomed here, then again I have thick blubbery oily skin so everything just bounces off me or just slides off
That's simply down to the fact that you're nobody important.

I recently posted a comment on the thread about the castration of cats... all i said was that it could be worse as I thought that the Swiss like to eat cats. (Referring to a new article in the swiss news about this)

Even though i thought my post was harmless it was immediately deleted with the reason of "trolling". Now I quite like to participate in a discussion and at the beginning try to find the "culture" of the board. so it was more to test the waters ...

So now I just tend to read the comments here ... but my first impression of this forum is:

1) There are few here who will always jump to defend switzerland even if a contrary opinion is also valid. (Maybe this comes from living in Switzerland to long as the Swiss cannot take criticism of any sort.)

2) Make one , even if small error in your post then a small group of "vigilantes " here will jump on it and try to make a big deal of it.

3) There is very little effort to engage with new people ...

4) its very "Swiss" in character

and now will probably come the usual Swiss type answer ... "if you don`t like it then leave"

bye all and have fun
Have you said anything positive about our country and its citizens yet?

The only stance you voice in your other posts is contempt for the residents of this country, there's not even one positive post.

Oh my apologies, I wasn't aware that there was a quota system here. So how many nice things do i have to say about the Swiss before I can voice one criticism, without you both getting upset?

Interesting is that from the names and the "our" in the text that I assume that you are both Swiss?

I'm not Swiss, but I still think you're a miserable twat.

Wow. As rude as this and you expect us to accept everything you say as the one truth? And to "give you an explanation"/heed to your demands? I have better things to do with my evening.

Well sorry about that dougie old boy that I don`t write nice things about the Swiss and meet your expectations. Odd though is that with 5 posts in as many years that you can draw this conclusion. Even so dougie, I have learnt that those with, lets say lesser intelligence, usually resort to insults when they have nothing of value to say. I wish you a nice evening.

ah no ... are you ok? Just because i was not aware that I could only write nice things here ,everyone starts getting upset.

I really don`t understand why if i write my own opinion, which is generally what forums are for, why you and a few others here are getting so upset. The title of this thread is "the treatment of new posters", and i wrote my opinion based on what I have read over the last years and now experiencing.

Taunting grammar nazis isn't nice
No grammar nazi here (I am not a native speaker) but it is lack of respect to not know the name of a country or of the people you are referring to in a conversation. :roll eyes:
Could be Switzerland or any other country, really.
I mean, you pretend you know everything about this country but you refer to it as "Swiss"....yeah, right.

Maybe because voicing your opinion could be done without being condescending.

You're doing a great job so far off demonstrating the flip side, where new posters seem to be doing their best to make themselves as unpopular as possible and then complain when established members have a go at them. You can't have it both ways, I'm afraid.

What it translates to is , "if you want to be welcomed here and accepted then you have to say nice things about the swiss"

Why ? Why can`t I just write and contribute to the discussions based on my experiences and my knowledge? I know of no other forum where you have to suck up to a chosen few first just because of their nationality.

I think this is more 'overreaction to new poster syndrome' in action here, a chill pill is highly recommended.

I'm relatively new here and I think you're an arrogant git as well with your ridiculous generalisations on all posts about racists etc. Of course, that's just my opinion so don't get upset about it.

I wonder why your comment was not deleted despite the clear insult. Anyway not to worry. I still have no idea what you are on about as I have made no comments about being racist other than to repeat what was already in the media. Maybe you want to think about what you want to say before writing?

Arrogant git is polite from where I come from, I could write a lot worse, and reading your posts on the police thread and your crap about the new boss from Credit Suisse, if that's not accusing people of racism then I don't know what is. Oh, and I don't usually want to say anything before writing, I just write.

There are many uses on here who have made Switzerland their home and have lived in the country for 10+ years. They have become assimilated and appreciate the benefits the country provides while accepting the negatives.

When a newbie joins EF - who has been in the country 5 minutes and complains about something trivial which, according to the newbie is "a million times better" in the country they come from/just left (to move to Switzerland for more money - I mean a better quality of life) - shackles are raised.

Then the newbie makes the "classic" mistake - they insult those who have been there, done it, and have a wardrobe of t-shirts to prove it - and before you know you have another "New Posters and picked on" thread.

Re: The Treatment of New Posters

I am about to leave for Ital, trying to brush up on my Italy. I speak Spain lot more fluently. England I can just about manage these days.
I wish I could have spoken England more fluently back in the days when I was on the refugee boat, I wanted to go Ital but ended in Lesbos. The boat muggler only spoke England and me only broken France.
