Delivery Service-never commit as promised

Am I just unlucky or "this is switzerland?"

I've been here for 1.5 years and so far I purchased 4 big items from different stores requiring delivery...and NONE of them are delivered with satisfactory and actually, I have to say that it's quite bad.....

1) I purchased a fridge from DARTY (the very reputable store here as I heard). We agreed the delivery date when placing the order and the item was delivered one day before without any reason.....

2)Another purchase of air-cond in FUST. Since the stock was not available, the staff told us that they will contact us to set up a day for delivery. without calling us in advance, they delivered the item to our apartment the next week.....

3)We bought 2 big display shelf (w. doors) from IKEA and we decided to arrange delivery & set up due to the weight (around 80kg), volume and complication of setting up. For 3 times, someone called us to agree on the schedule and did not show up, (neither was any phone call for cancellation), for 3 times, we waited at home the whole day with a few big furnitures moved intending to ease the space for the display shelf set up. ps. We did call up IKEA customer service to complain and the answer was " I'm sorry for what happened to you, we got a lot of business recently so is having tough schedule to arrange, you have to wait for us to call you for further arrangement, blah blah blah !!!!"

4)A week ago, we purchased a new freezer from an electric appliance shop nearby. Since the store has to place order directly from the manufacturer, they promised to call us once it's available. Last Saturday, they left a phone message to my husband on the availability and asked us to call them back on the delivery time. The following Monday am, and before we called them back, the freezer was delivered to my apartment !!!! p.s. the delivery guy told us this is not the first time happening to them anyway!!!!

by the way, if the delivery service covers post office as well......I notice that there're always the same one or few postman responsible for mail service in my building so we mean neighbourhood to them. One of them is always rude and impatient whenever he needs me to sign on a parcel cos he has to press the door bell, wait for my reply and come downstair. He always gives me that ugly look like "what takes you so long", Last time, I told him i got a baby (so has to settle down) and he is saying something that I don't understand but again it seems the look like "i don't care"...

p.s. no offend to local swiss ...I do like the place here but I'm really driven nut by all these delivery things happening here which hardly happened before anywhere...

Re: Delivery Service-never commit as promised

This has never happened to me and I shop at the same places you do.

When we were in Lausanne, I would always tell them, it's on the 7th floor with a very small elevator. They always said "no, problem". The IKEA delivery people walked a HUGE sofa up the stairs. Also, because the gate was only open on certain days they risked not being able to deliver if they came a day before or after. I made sure to tell them that & I've never had a problem with delivery.

We had only one post person ONE time who refused to come upstairs. Usually, they would come up to the 7th floor and knock at the apartment door. But this one refused. Luckily she was a temp/replacement.

Either I've been lucky or you've been unlucky as it seems we really have opposite experiences.

I've had both good and bad experiences with this regard but over-all I must say that deliveries generally work extremely well in Switzerland. So, no I can't say I share your experience.
