Was just a joke, of course to much sweets are fattening.

I am fortunate and always remained slim - dispite my bars of chocolate...

Re: Smoking in the balcony :-O

When I was still a smoker I tried to lit chocolate few times, but it was not working. It always melted and stained my clothes. But I never tried to burn a Yogi, do you think I can still do it, even as a new nonsmoker? or my swiss neighbors will complain about the smell?

for all you addicts out there - you really think it's about 'freedom' or big tobacco lining their pockets with a cancer causing addictive product marketed towards teenagers that kills 1 out of 2 users.
You mean companies that sell products aim to make profits? Well that completely changes my perspective, I thought they were just being nice.

Life kills all users. What a bitch.

I don't know of any other places where the people in democratic votes passed smoking bans.

Smoking is prohibited
in offices
in public buildings
in hospitals
in schools incl universities
on trains and trams and buses
in closed rail stations
in bars and restaurants and cafés (except the Fumoirs)

There was no point to have missed, as there is NONE
So what? All your laws are still behind everyone else. Congratulations on listing out the poor laws in Switzerland. It's like the dumbest kid in class being proud he got 2 answers right on a test.

And the point is - Switzerland should be on par with the countries that are passing tougher laws, not a decade behind.

If the "dumbest" kid in class got a 0 last time, he should bloody well be proud of getting 2 answers right.

... especially if the test only had two questions.

I'm not fully aware of the Kantonal laws on this, but there is at least one bar/restaurant in Obwalden which is not designated as a fumoir and does allow smoking at the bar. There is a, much larger, non-smoking area, and no-one needs to go through the smoking area to get served, so I've always assumed that the OW law allows this.

Why? Because it suits you?

Switzerland isn't a "decade" behind. The UK brought no smoking laws in in the middle of 2008, Switzerland made a similar move in 2010, 18 months later. The rest of Europe was sooner or later around that time, too.

Have you actually checked up on this subject before getting your knickers in a twist on this forum? Or did you just fancy a lunchtime rant?

I think in Austria is also still possible to smoke in bars. Or at least it was this year when they were changing laws about it.

Suits me? It has nothing to do with me. That just shows how ignorant people are on the subject.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...d_universities

Huge list of Universities recently tobacco free.

The WHO/CDC/American Lung Association, agree about the dangers of tobacco/second hand smoke.

It is a FACT that ciggies target 13-16 year olds to replace the old smokers who die daily. It is the only LEGAL product that kills 1 out of 2 users, contains 4,000 chemicals/carcinogens and creates a life long addiction.

So more like it suits millions of doctor's and scientists and health ministers to have stricter anti-tobacco laws.

Unless of course it's all just one big conspiracy.

Switzerland always prefers to stay neutral and do things based on their wants and needs. They do not feel compelled to copy trends, stick their noses in other countries affairs, start or join wars. I like Switzerland for that.

I think other countries want to be on par with Switzerland's life longevity, you know, all those countries who smoke less and have laws that restrict ones civil liberties.

But, what I am interested in, is you, not in a funny way. What next for you? Hypothetically, IF Switzerland became on par with countries passing tougher laws, caught up that decade you allege they're behind, will you be satisfied and live happily ever after? Or are there other things that are bothering you or that interest you? You do not talk about much else.

Smokers need to understand that smoking is not a social norm anymore. If they are disturbing others they are the ones that need to change.

I am sick and tired these people not giving a shit about others. Specially here in Switzerland. I've seen this not only in balconies but also in public spaces. Its noticeable how Switzerland is so ing retarded in this sense.
So much of it being a "developed country" according to HDI.
Just beautiful landscapes and money. Nothing else. There are no rules and if they exists no one gives a shit, unless you have money. Its unbelievable.

And the same goes to grills in balconies, noise, etc. Its the same.

Even pregnant woman are dealing with this ing shit in her own apartment! Its unacceptable. And this is much more common than you think. My girlfriend faced the same issue... and the police could not do anything.

Finally, If you are a smoker, smoking is not only harmful to you. It is also harmful to others as well. When i was a smoker i always respected others and their space!
So if you are someone that does not respect others, smoking in balconies or in close collective spaces, you are a piece of shit and you deserve to die slow and painfully.

Also, did you ever thought that if you just quit smoking you are helping the Health insurance to not increase so much every year? Oh well, maybe even decreases. Did you pieces of shit smokers here in Switzerland ever think about it? Instead of complaining that is high maybe stop being the problem.

Re: Smoking in the balcony :-O

Well said fortesp.
The smoking topic seems to have taken a back seat while Brexit, Trump and corona have the limelight.
The problem with smoking is, it's not quite toxic enough to get outlawed, and in this backward country, seems to be perfectly accepted as the norm.
Very surprisingly, the kids love it too.

The b4rstards can live on for decades inconveniencing others. Maybe corona will help a few of them along a bit.
