Ueli should never have put himself in such a position. However, despite the cringe-worthy interview, I'd still rather have Ueli than Donald as president.
That. Alternatively, have the questions asked, and reply, in German instead.

Re: Such idiots in Swiss politics-Ueli Maurer

The problem is as well, that the World sees the British parliament as a joke.

I'm really embarrassed by the latest private references made by my closest Swiss friends lately - "joke" seems to be the latest catchword, even amongst my not too good speaking Swiss friends (they know since years that I'm more Swiss than UK, so I actually agree.). Hurts a bit though.

But I'm still surprised that Ueli Maurer is the President of Switzerland.

President in Switzerland has no similarity to president USA. He's not even elected by the people. And he's not the head of state. He mainly represents all the Swiss multis who manipulate him to get what they want. Thankfully he is only for 1 year in that post. Just for the records-he earns $448,000 a year for such stupidity!

He has served in the Swiss Army with the rank of major, commanding a bicycle infantry battalion

Ignoring Präsident there are two typos. In both cases a trailing "r" is missing, that can't be coincidence.

Better pay attention next time. It's a clear case of trolling Trump and the USA.

You are obviously the number one troll on EF, but at least stay with the facts: the american president isn't elected by the american voters either

The president of the USA isn't elected by the people either, otherwise Mrs. Clinton would be president now.

Besides that, the President of the Swiss Confederation has no more competence than other members of the Federal Council. The Swiss multis could try to manipulate him / her as much as they like, they wouldn't get anything from him other than maybe a dinner invitation for some CEOs. The Federal Council is the executive branch, but it doesn't have tools like the executive orders that a POTUS has, and by the end of the day it's always the Federal Council as whole that makes decisions, never ever the President alone (except when he / she decides to go the the bathroom).

Having met and spent time conversing Roger S., who I found to be a nice guy with a great command of English, I can none the less understand this.

Also, the interview with Roger S. is at leat 30 years old!
