If it looks dry, yellowing, cracked or has an amoniac smell, bin it.
You've never bough cheese at a market in Italy, have you.

That sort of stuff sells at a premium, especially if it changes form day to day.

I still remember cheese I saw at the market in Domodossola many years ago, it was crawling with maggots and sold as a delicacy!

Exactly!!

Damn those people who ensure the community breathes by posting regularly.

EF isn't all things to all people - never has been and never will be. Amongst the much bollocks, vitriol, repetition and general crap there is some very useful information. It is just a shame that has never been distilled.

Shouldn't we return to talking about shaving yoghurts?

See the problem is that your are incorrectly focusing on "this site".

My problem is that i'm focusing on "society".

The fact that OP did write "on this site" is absolutely not significant in itself.

The problem is that this person live in society, with others, and basically can make a big mess. Oh and the OP can vote (in the country of origin, surely).

So don't get confused, the OP is not getting bashed to promote this website, but because the behavior is absolutely stupid and harmful, in a unprovoked way.

And it gets publicity in "internet" and attracts others dum...less intellectually fortunate people who are going to debate about defending him-

See how the OP's thread could be different:
"Coop sold me expired food" VS "I bought expired food".

So should we tolerate any behavior simply because they are "not physically violent"?

I don't think so, and I do see in this thread some form of abuse: attempting to take legal actions/ threaten a company because the OP can not admit mistakes he/she made.

The point has been been made to the OP directly, humourously, analylitically you name it before you posted he got it and will think again before posting banial posts.

But your post was just aggresive and nasty and crossed the line of the above to me (but maybe just to me as clearly your believers thanked you for it).

Even your reply is so self righteousness and I get the judgement of my intelligence thrown in.

I'm thinking the James Bond producers have missed a trick with Russia,Korea etc. they could just use you on the premise of the baddie ridding the world of all us thickos.

P.S. Where's that Connor guy got a feeling gonna need some support defending this argument though

Banial post?
What's banal about threatening legal actions on the basis of your own mistakes, without even admitting it?

If that's became banal then it clearly means that there's no point to live in society anymore, no point to call us "civilized".

Where do I sign for the "getting rid of all sickos/thickos"?

PS: You can get Sarah Connor, Terminator, James Bond, or anyone you want, you won't defend anything against me. The OP deserves a good reality kick in the face, not some humoristic poke. Thankfully for the OP, he got it, in a virtual way. Not sure it would have any impact though, seems so thick that OP is probably immune to taking a look at him/herself.

Re: Coop sold me expired food

i would not take this so easy FFS! You are exactly right taking this risk factor to this board to get advice from us to get a neutral opinion (as we swiss citizens are).

You have a dairy product which is expired, the bacteria in it creates gas and other bacterias.

So please read this closely:

1.
The aditional gas creates a higher pressure in the capsules of yogurt you eat. So be very caution in handling !! dont take them out of the fridge again!!! put them in a freezer!!!

when you take it out, the temperature of the dairy product and gas will increase quickly in those hot summer days - and as you maybe know - with increasing temperature the bacteria and gas accumulation raises exponantially and in addition to that also the volume of the single molecules increases!
The result will be a unavoidable spontanious burst of the lid and worst case also the packaging. This will blow the spores and bacteria around the environment the packaging is at the moment. Those can only be removed by a chemical threatment. Besides also plastic particles can be blown away and may hurt your eyes when the fly directly into your pupils - or maybe you can inhale them and hurt your lungs badly!

You can contact directly the NBC-laboratory in Spiez: http://www.labor-spiez.ch/enindex.htm

they are specialiced for such cases.

again: put it immediately into the freezer and contact the coop and the NBC-Specialists in Spiez.

We are paying a lot of Tax to this laboratory so they can take care of such circumstances!

2. Record the phone call you have with them - and upload it please to this thread, we in the EF will check then if the guys there did react apropriate to your request.

You can expect that in a well evolved country as switzerland such things DO NOT happen ... so fight for your rights! we are not living in a damm banana republic... even if many users (like treesarehalal) here want you to think so!

Edit:
THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!!!
READ THIS!!! YOU HAVE A DEADLY TIME BOMB IN YOUR FREEZER!
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/201...g-yogurt-drink

So please do inform the Spiez laboratory!

If he does it's your fault.

The rest of us said either open and eat it (time bomb defused), throw it in the trash, or take it back to the shop (time bomb returned to sender). If he followed any of those suggestions he's perfectly safe by now and has nothing more to worry about. I for one think it's really irresponsible of you to go round dispensing such dangerous advice on the internet.

Re: Coop sold me expired food

My sister used to manufacturer organic yoghurts - from the milking of the cows to the distribution.

They sold them in very up-market retailers in London and elsewhere.

She said that one of the biggest problems with real live yoghurt is that, as it is live, gases may build up under the lid and cause it to bow out.

But the retailers told her that mis-informed people thought they had gone-off which was far from the case.

Weird because all kimchi packets come inflated. I once opened a kilo one with my teeth and nearly blacked out from inhaling whatever gas that is.

Buying anything in a sealed packet above a certain height, when it's been packed at lower altitude, will be under a certain degree of pressure.

Always a wheeze watching someone open a bag of crisps on a skiing holiday at 2000m which they bought at a Coop in Zurich...

No, only whiskey, single malt preferred.

I ate a yoghurt yesterday with use by date 24/Jan 2014 (human experimentation only in interests of EF) I must say, I've felt better and buzzier today than I have for the last 3 months

You kept that in your fridge?

I know all the theory, but as I am a bit paranoid re. food (and many other things), I throw away almost everything which is past expiry date. (well, if it is only 2-3 days I don't always do that, neither if we talk about pasta, spices, rise etc.) I found out, by trying, that there is a reason for that date, at least taste wise.
