I honestly did find fourteen 2010 dated yogurts in my wine cellar (how else do you think I took that photo?), and I did eat one as it tasted fine.
Are you Mrs St2lemans?

Re: Coop sold me expired food

I foolishly mixed two food groups. The results were,at best, meaty yoghurt.
Please don't milk it.

I sorry to disappoint you but I believe those yoghurts were out of date on 22 October last year (2013) and not in 2010. The 10 on the label refers to the month not the year.
Your willingness to sacrifice yourself in the interests of research whilst still admirable is slightly less impressive when the yoghurts are 'only' 8 months past their use by date.
They're definitely more like 2010, I've eaten hardly any dairy products since early 2011 so wouldn't have bought any yogurts since then.

No, as Mrs. St2lemans doesn't speak English, only Italian.

But she does eat out of date food.

So did the OP get his money back?

It's quite easy, take the produce and bill to the checkout and the nice lady fills in a form and you get your money.

This thread is as funny as the Ozzy guy's water one.

I guess the newspeople are reading EF today's debate on expired food being sold found here

my yogurt label says 30 06 2014, not dreissig nullsechs zweinullvierzehn, so I guess that Mrs st2lemans would be reading arabic numerals like the rest of us

Re: Coop sold me expired food

Last time Coop sold me discounted Captain Morgan for CHF19.95. Needless to say the label said 35% but I think after expiry date the volume was about 38%. In result, greater hangover than originally planned

Late last evening I picked up Actimel from Coop. This morning when I pulled it out to drink, I saw it had an expiry date of June 10.
You picked it up .… why did you buy expired food?

Re: Coop sold me expired food

Slightly weary of reviving this thread but the Coop at Adliswil has sold some rotten cherries (nice of them to put them on sale). Didn't notice them in the box when I quickly looked in the shop. Ok, yes I could have taken them back couldn't be bothered wandering around with half rotten fruit the next day. That was a quick lesson in reading the label.

Having gone back today I noticed that all the cherries and all strawberries were past the sell by date. Literally dozens of boxes. And not just by a day or so, most by a week or more. Yes I know that some of the boxes might actually be OK, but they're OK with leaving stuff out there?

If I was the store manager I would rather have empty shelves than have this fruit trap in my store. Could have just taken the fruit to the bakery and made some pastries if they were unsold and looking a bit dodgy.

Just beggars belief that they don't give a hoot.

You sure those dates are not the packing date?
i just bought cherries, eating them now, the only date on the box is the package date, not expiry.

FYI:
Packing date = Abpackdatum
Expiration date/use by = Ablaufdatum/Verbrauchen bis
Sell by date = Verkaufen bis

Fresh fruit boxes/sacks and veggies rarely have the expiration date stamped on, it is the packing date in 99% of cases.

Welcome to the global village. So much competition that if you increase QC you go out of business.

What costs big big money is QC. Quality Control. To get top quality goods, services etc to the market you need to do what NASA does. 3 quality control checks and all 3 QC officers are not working for the same boss. 1 watches the work being done and the other two check the each other and the work.

Like the President Obama said yesterday "Verification not trust".

i.e. no need to throw it away right after the date.

So those "Jahrgang" Cervelats I have in the freezer since my daughter was born in 1998 are still ok? Whew... good to know that, I have heard elsewhere that foodstuffs become poisonous at midnight of the "best before" date.
