Re: What's your EF pet hate?

Wondering whose "reincarnation" a new user is. Sometime they come back in a more constructive manner and that's O.K., but more often than not they just continue some ridiculous battles...

People requesting an introduction when a newbee asks a good and relevant question never asked or answered before.

People asking about what happens after a certain traffic infraction but never reporting back what actually happenend in the end.
Very true. But sometimes I'm asking myself ... are they for real with their questions and would we want to know the true answer in the end?

Truth. At least some blonde or Jewish jokes, pics, recycled or home made memes

Good debates are rare spice of life, wish we had more. Without categorical or absolutist voice, though we all do it, one way or another. "Swiss" doesn't phase me, not typos, it's cosmetic. Tabs are horrid for typing, I have sympathy for fellow tab users.

The ones who join to ask a question and then get all arsey when they don't get the answers they wanted to hear and start insulting the people who actually took the time to reply to them.

Re: What's your EF pet hate?

Yeah, typos and "Swiss" don't worry me either in the grand scheme of things.

A Swiss buddie says "Swiss" in place of Switzerland a lot in our chats. First time I heard her say it, I chuckled thinking of how it's abhorred by many on EF. She also calls forests "jungles"!

Then again, she's not a "real" Swiss.

I agree, in fact I have just banned someone whose location was "Swiss".
They deserved to be banned for that if nothing else.
And why would you do that?

It would be good to have any posts in which significant numbers of groans had been dished out marked as such, don't you think?

I like popcorn threads a lot more than "for sale" threads as well. Having said that, there are definitely some entertaining "for sale" threads out there!
I like statistics. I'd love to see a table with "most groaned post", or "member who thanks the most", you get the idea.

PS, that's not a pet hate, sorry IM

Re: What's your EF pet hate?

People who respond to salary questions saying "Oh, the average Swiss family lives on much less than that".

I don't care what the average Swiss family lives on, quite frankly. If I ask this question, I just want to know if moving across the world is worth my while. Not to mention - the average Swiss family has an established network system in place that is oftentime not readily available to a newbie from another country.

Having said that...newbies, use the search function!

Indeed, the average Swiss family has a stay at home grandmother and aunts, know the language and where to get the best deals, and either already have somewhere to live or know someone who knows someone that can get them a great place to live. They don't need to pay for German/French/Italian lessons and don't need to pay for frequent flights home. Also, they understand tax forms and laws.

That's lovely, really. Makes me think of Manu Chao for some reason.

I induce pet pevees on purpose, makes people strong, heh. We have weird vocab games with friends, calling women wenches, pluralising where it hurts ears, it's a bit lame but it makes us laugh. Chimbly. Works great for song lyrics.

Poster have their own quirks, it would be silly to expect everybody speaking/writing the same, tbh. It's like with haircuts..as long as people don't hurt eachother, etc etc.

Hehe! I love it when I read "stuffs" instead of "stuff".

I've seen some on here get indignant about that too!
