Re: Restuarants not serving lunch after 2pm

Am I missing something? ...... Isn't lunch just served at lunchtime? (which in my book doesn't extend beyond 2.00pm, for starting)

Similar thing happened to me when I lived in LA and went into Whammy Burger wanting breakfast at 11.33 - apparently they stop serving breakfast at 11.30 and you have to order something from the lunch menu ....... I wasn't happy.

Re: Restuarants not serving lunch after 2pm

So, what some of you here complain about is that breakfast, lunch or dinner is not served outside of the local (respectively) breakfast, lunch or dinner times?

Wow, yes, what a shock.

Re: Restuarants not serving lunch after 2pm

what about the discriminated against night shift workers who want to eat their dinner at 8am, why can't they get a salad, lasagne and a glass of wine when they want!

I had similar experiences on holidays where I woke up in the afternoon and couldn't get a breakfast.

These restaurants that refuse to serve after 2pm. Do they also get difficult with providing split bills?

There are places my friend...

I agree with the first few responses. Also you have to consider who is working in service. It's not just about the lack of cook in the kitchen, as sometimes there is someone there doing prep work and setting up for night service. It's about these kind of menus have to be reduced as the person in service often is responsible for making the food, when not the cook in the kitchen. Afternoon staff normally are getting the place ready for dinner.

As packed as lunch seems to be almost anywhere in the world, it's not really a profitable time at all. When the person in service who is trying to polish glasses, count silverware, fill and clean coffee machines, organize dishes, most of what the average customer does not see that goes into having a smooth service/meal, takes alot of time. When the random 4 to 10 customers over a 5 hour period of time come in and want to order food, it really sets people back in the time it takes to prepare something, as opposed to when 100 people are ordering. It sets them back in their work, and for most people employed there it is more frustrating then anything.

And honestly, even if there is big menu, 80% of the time people are ordering coffee, spritzers, beers, and ice creams. Not a cordon bleu with pommes.

I always order a cordon bleu with pommes, along with a side order of deep fried pig ears.

That no cooks are around after 2PM -- a Pizza only needs to be put into the oven which can be done by other personnel

Hmmm...Maybe due to bad communication with the kitchen?

Honestly, never really happened to me...

So, let me ask a million Dinar question. What do cooks do from 2pm until 5:30pm? Do they take pottery classes? Do they direct traffic?

Let me suggest that those cooks who are really interested in King Customer's wishes are (between 14.00 and 17.30) sitting around in the kitchen twiddling their thumbs and wondering why they have to work a 13 hour day just to be ready to serve a pizza to whoever wanders in.

Right, what do they do instead, sit in front of Denner and drink beer?
