Well, it certainly does at the time of the menopause. You combine menopause and a newly acquired severe thryroid disfunction - and I can assure you it does make a hell of a difference- to tiredness too. Thyroid disfunction was not diagnosed because it was 'hidden' be the menopausal symptoms for a few years- and then it all becomes quite complicated actually. I was never overweight until my 50s when the 2 above concurred. Which does not mean that with a lot of effort and care I could not lose weight- but it certainly does makes it a lot more difficult.

Then if you have to take insulin, despite controlling carbs and sugars, you can multiply the difficulty by 100 more.

But this is medical, which as Richdog already said (i think) is a very valid and acceptable reason to be overweight and no amount of exercise, dieting or whatever will give any other result than being overweight.

As far as i understand, this is perfectly acceptable.

Never an excuse though- controlling carbs and sugars AND being as active as poss will not make you slim in those circumstances- but can control putting more and more weight on- but it is very hard.

For the sake of research, have just done a Google for 'sexy underwear for larger women' and there seems to be quite a few specialists

Overall it feels like one should be apologising for not having kept up the (preferably pert, slim back-)side, frightfully sorry old chap, 'tis a war wound, I'd be in those size 8 skinny jeans like a flash otherwise! And the others, well, bloody gym-dodgers the lot of them, don't you realise there are poor thyroid-impaired people out there who would be ever so grateful to be able to lose weight as easily as you could?! The cheek!
