It's interesting that people do only write these things under the safe distance of the Internet, or print media. I wonder when the last time people giving overweight people here a verbal beating went up to and overweight person in real life and said 'eat properly you fat lazy tub of lard'. Or approached a disabled person like Stephen hawking and cracked a great one about them reaching for the biscuit jar but collapsing in a heap.

There is this thing about 'pc' and 'harden the f up' people write on bulletin boards, but I wonder how many of them in real life would say out loud what they happily deliver over a keyboard.

I think i know what the real world is like. Do you? But yeah, i guess so. Disagree all you want.

I might if the person was constantly complaining that they kept putting on weight whilst absolutely stuffing their face the whole time.

Obese people keep saying they're happy the way they are. Then fine but they ought to STFU with their complaining about how difficult it is to keep the weight off.

It works both ways.

I know several people like this by the way and it gets quite wearisome when they trot out the same moaning stuff every time we meet.

Some of them would still do, provided they have an easy target(victim) and can get away with it!

If people said the same utter nonsense in front of me in real life as they seem to post on this forum, then yes, it would very likely get an equivalent sarcastic response. Thankfully, most people seem to refrain from saying the same stuff aloud. It works both ways.

VS is highly overrated, honestly. Expensive and belonging to the things you "must have" as to confirm some sort of sexiness, refinement(?) or goodness knows what else. I'm not crazy about their stuff, my only two things I have from them were brought by my OH as a present from California... If I remember correctly I think I appreciated more the beef jerky provisions he also brought.

I haven't read any of this thread and have no idea what it's about, but feel obliged to agree with this statement.

I mean, what's with having two languages in the same canton? How's that supposed to work? And having an incomprehensible dialect at the German end that nobody else can understand? And what's with all their colonists all over the rest of Switzerland? And is it true that the city of Sion has Elders who are responsible for all the bad stuff that happens in the world?

If VS had any honesty, it would address these matters to everybody's satisfaction, then we could think about considering it in a more favourable light. Until then, I have to agree that it is thoroughly overrated.

Its not only diet or exercise or hormones….. The culprit can be small bacteria (monster) in our gut… at least thats what I just read now….

And it's perfectly normal for threads to derail. Happens all the time, in this and any other forum, especially on sensitive topics like this one where, frankly, whatever anyone says, it can never be right. I could start a rant here in reaction to certain comments about slim women, but I simply don't care enough and can't be bothered. No one here knows me in RL and I won't get offended by general comments made by people I don't know. Nothing here is a personal insult or attack.

I never cared about why some people are overweight, or fat, or obese...I haven't met any single one who was happy or proud to be fat, in fact most of people like that not only tend to be a much pleasant, nicer, down-to-earth company but also (sadly) they feel like having to apologise for their body frame, or for not eating microscopic portions.... I know why, it's because of people who make really cruel and rude remarks, or mock them.

And btw, it can happen to anyone. When I broke my leg in a ski accident I stayed home for more than a month, not doing much and eating as before, actually more because I was so frustrated (oh yes, I should have controlled myself...)...guess what, I gained weight. It was noticeable, probably so much that when I met some people I haven't seen for a while, first thing I was told was..."Oh, but you put some weight on you..." Why did they have to say that? ...
