Well just for a change- let's talk about sport and ski gear! If you are a man, there are range of clothing that go up to XXXL- but for women, XL is the largest for ski clothing. And if larger women want to take up sport, instead of sitting at home and cry + put more weight on- they have to becoming very clever at adapting clothing made for people 20-30cm cm or more taller- it took me years to work out how to shorten sleeves and trousers legs which have special closures, zips and elastics, etc. Enough to put any woman trying to become or remain more active- off altogether (fortunately not me).
(and yes, I know- losing weight would help to- but talk about vicious circle).

| | | | | If it's just gym and running etc, I thought that really obese people only wore exercise clothing such as tracksuits?
But for more specialised sports clothing it's more of a question of supply and demand.
Sorry if this sounds crass but one just doesn't see that many obese people (male or female) skiing and snowboarding.

I find running tights annoying - although they stretch to fit whatever needs to be squeezed in, there isn't much to do with extra length that just gathers in the region of upper leg and crotch. Folding up from the bottom "works" but not quite the same sleek fit. Rain trousers - near hopeless, but I always keep my eyes open for the unexpected find.
For any shorter females traveling to US, I recommend http://titlenine.com They have some sportswear in petite lengths.

. | | | | | It's not a problem restricted to short school aged boys either.
Very tall, skinny boys are also faced with challenges in the trouser department. The arrival if the adjustable elasticated waist trousers when our boy was about six was a lifesaver for me as previously he had to wear a belt to keep his trousers up (which he hated) or look like Norman Wisdom.

The distance from crotch to waistband is ridiculous - I end up pulling them right up and tying over the hip bone - so that they sit there and don't drop.
The INOV-8 shorts are quite good - with a soft elastic back - but they need tightening around the waist to keep them in place.
It would be easier to run naked. | This user would like to thank dodgyken for this useful post: | |

I agree, anything bigger than a UK Size 14 and you are pretty much stuffed. |

True. Glad it's not. Might've just used that stone and hurled it at someone if my size was not available.
