Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

You can start a few weeks ahead by cleaning the oven and the hob filters. Also carry out small repairs, scratches on the floor, marks on the walls.

Then I allow one day for cleaning the outside blinds, the windows and the cellar / attic.

The second day on the kitchen, the cupboards, and the bathroom.

The third day on the rest: the ceilings, the walls and floors.

Get a steam cleaner and some clean rags, then things are much easier.

I have never paid a cleaning agency, and I always passed the inspection, and I have moved 9 times. Swiss clean is getting it as clean as when it was new!

Oh dear, move number 15 coming up...

I have lived in Murten at 5 addresses, in Bern at 5 apartments, and one each in Bulle, Aubonne, Geneva, & Avenches. So probably moved more than 9 times eh?

Maybe it shows a little the way you live if you need to pay this much for cleaning............not really something i'd want to advertise too much
What an astoundingly unintelligent remark... but then you're a landlord, aren't you?

When we left the furnished rental accommodation we were given when we first moved to the Midlands (that came with the job) - I apologised about a little mark on the cooker I had not been able to get rid off. The guys looked at the cooker, oven, fridge, etc, and said they had never ever seen anything like it. I asked what they meant- and they said they usually had to take everything straight to the dump!!! It was the first time they could re-rent immediately without replacing all

I had a toddler and was about 8 months pregnant, and had been cleaning non stop for 1 week as well as packing all on my own (OH working very long hours).

Yes and i've never held on to a security deposit, as soon as the handover is completed, i sign the bank papers too.

Chf 1500.-- is steep, but depending on the state of the apartment could be justified, oven cleaning takes a long time, it is very difficult to comment apart from tongue in cheek comments as we have no idea of the state of the apartment.

One of my tenants moved out after 12 years, without counting the renovation work, it would easily taken 3 days to clean completely, terrace and apartment, (50m) so not big, but a single guy for 12 years......

It all depends on the landlord or agent really, some are difficult, some not, as with tenants !

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

When we moved out of our flat in Edinburgh, in spite of having my arm eaten by pirahnas and working a 72 hour week we scrubbed the entire flat with a toothbrush, reslated the roof, pojnted the brickwork, and we still had change for chips on the way home.

The letting agent was so impressed we got back our complete deposit, plus a 10% bonus and a free go on the swivel chairs at the letting agent's office.

Cheers,
Nick

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

I have someone I can recommend who can do this a lot cheaper. She has been cleaning several flats for handover and got congrats from Swiss new residents that it was so spotless. I am sure she would do it for a lot less. Send me a message if you are interested and I'll bring you in touch with her. She lives around Biel but if you pay her train ticket she will be happy to do it as she is looking for jobs at the moment.

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

When we moved house last December we made use of Cleandevil Services(www.cleandevil.ch) They cleaned our 70m2/ 1 bedroom apartment for less than CHF 600 and were present at the handover. They even fixed an issue we had with our kitchen sink and the landlord was happy with their work.

Let's not jump on the OP, 1500 to clean a flat *is* bonkers for crying out loud.

You lot have a variant Stockholm syndrome.... I dunno, let's call it Switzerland syndrome for the sake of argument.

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

We moved out of a house in Zurich a year ago and used John Shepherd of Diamond Cleaning too and he was excellent. He gave a guarantee and was present at the handover following round the inventory checker and dealing with any issues that arose immediately.

It made the whole experience far less stressful and John gave us the best quote out of the three we got. He gets very booked up but definitely worth a call: http://newinzurich.com/2014/03/john-...e-swiss-style/

Wherever you are you'll have no problem finding an overpriced offer. Who knows, perhaps the company didn't really want the order in the first place so they overpriced.

Whatever the reason, OP should get a couple other offers and move on. Actually, common sense would have him/her get more than one to begin with.

I just keep being amazed by what is ascribed to Switzerland that in reality is commonplace all over the world.

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

we paid about 1/3 month's rent for a professional cleaning of our home when we left Switzerland. considering that the deposit was 2x a month's rent and the handover went swimmingly, it seemed like money well spent at the time and still does.

when we moved into our home in Luxembourg, the first thing we did was comment that we wished every country insisted upon the same standards as Switzerland when it came to rental properties. we moved into a 30 year old home in Switzerland that looked less than 5 years old, and we moved into a 5 year old home in Luxembourg that looks 30 years old.

But you live in Basel and their rulings on the standard of cleaning are different. They used to be Very Different. 'Besenrein' was the word used when we lived there.
Ah, fair enough, though the place was spotless when I moved in. Anyway, could be there are geographical differences, I hadn't thought of that - good catch :-)

Re: Exit Cleaning costs....HOW MUCH !!!???

1500 at 45chfs per hour is around 33 hours of cleaning. which is within the expected time required to clean to standard.

We are about to move out of our 6 room 100 year old house in Basel after 15 years. Do we have to undo our 15 years of wear and tear or do we have to return to new condition?

We are moving back the UK shortly and have obtained quotes for the final apartment cleaning .....how picky are these people that it costs 1500 CHF to clean a 2 bed apartment.....?

Ridiculous.....Switzerland is bonkers !
It's worth to pay a cleaning firm trust me, when we moved out of our first flat me and my friends spent over a week cleaning and it still was not good enough the agent even took apart the taps to check for dirt she gave me another day to finish cleaning, then still charged us for a cleaning crew to come in and finish

When we left our last flat we just moved out into our new house we had built no stress worth every penny

i've known collegues that done it themselves without any major hiccups with the cleaning products sold at Migros/COOP.
So far I've managed to stay in every appartment until the building was due for a major refurbishment and so the landlord didn't want the appartment clean and didn't inspect anything. Maybe I was lucky, but maybe there is also a strategy in going for older buildings rather than modern or freshly renovated ones.
