| | Shut up ffs
It's 1am and across the road there is a party. Music is OK but the sound carries and they are speaking really loud. I have complained to them and they acknowleged me but went right on shouting.
What now? I'm not Swiss enough to call the police, and they are Swiss enough to sweet talk them. I am tired and hot and moody. |

You don't need to be afraid to call police. I've called police multiple times to report noise pollution. I don't mind it so much on Fridays/Saturdays because I get to sleep in the next day. But when it's during the working week it's a different story. I always try to urge the kids to turn down volume before calling police. Officers were always pleasant to deal with. Once they even thanked me for interrupting their boring night shift | This user would like to thank for this useful post: | |

They've been at it since 11 am and in the note the owner so kindly put in the locals letterboxes he fully intends to party until tomorrow afternoon. Apparently he thinks forewarning us excuses anything.
He's celebrating his fortieth birthday, he's just sold the house and is having a last 'fling'.
Others have already been 'round to complain but he says he doesn't give a monkey's about the police as he's leaving soon and moving away anyway.
I'm just desperately praying for the long promised thunderstorm and downpour at the moment!!!

Afaik the fines go all the way up to 10000 CHF. They can make his wallet hurt if he is being cocky.

If he's not done this before and it is hence a one-off, I'd just let him have the party. But if you need the windows open (if it's cooler outside than in) and it's 2am or more you can just call the police anyway.

Some people just don't care!
I'm just across the border in France at the moment at our main residence.... but have had similar problems in Geneva before.
Sadly there it's often 'I'm Swiss so don't even bother complaining' that'll be the response if you complain.
Worse one there was when the local cops point-blank refused to intervene on a Wednesday night when local uni grads took over an empty building for an all-nighter as they didn't want to risk endangering lives of the students resisted. Changed their minds after the kids set fire to the roof at three am though!

I once rang at the door of a noisy party and as they had their music full blast they don't hear me ring which means I let myself in and arrived in the middle of their posh party in my old dressing gown and no make up. Quite a radical effect!

Saturday morning through to Sunday evening is a bit much, even for a milestone birthday.
Just checked the forecast and the promised thunderstorm's now not arriving until tomorrow lunchtime apparently. Rats.
I'll just stick the earplugs in, debunk to the bedroom on the other side of the house and let the neighbours deal with him when it all gets too much in the early hours.... they're much bigger than I am!

Ha ha ha, thread of the day, guys, if that bit of noise upsets your sensitivities don't ever come to Bugibba on Malta at this time of year when the drunk british touries get their paaaady on.
Fireworks going off just now as they do between April and October from eight in the morning until waaaaaay past midnight, not the fancy kind mind you, just the KRAK, KRAK, BANG type.
Or when Milwall's finest, aka. the guys who have to go low for a while go out for a pint or twelve in the pub across the road.
Or when the owners of mercedes AMG's want to show everybody how they can make the tires squeeeeeeeeel, or give sound samples of the audio systems, come to think of it they do that with any car.

I tried ringing the cops once but the answer phone was on! Walked round the block in my pj's at 2am snorting + thinking "this is probably not a good idea". I am all for the 10pm curfew. Old farts unite!
Oddly enough everyone seems to have gone on holiday & it's so quiet I can hear things croaking, squeaking + yes, the idiots on motorbikes who can't possibly be sticking to the speed limit.

Lets face it, I wouldn't mind so much if I wasn't going to be awakened by church bells at 7am.
