Which will take a while if there are lots of numbered parts, quantities and sizes to get to tally. Generally they refuse to wait even whilst you unpack as they are on a ridiculously tight delivery schedule. They never arrive exactly at the arranged time. Fortunately I've always been alright and had everything in the parcels. Except for the delivery in August. 2 parts were missing. 1 large part - essential for to start the assembly.

No answer to phone calls or emails. Their problem. I simply initiated credit card transaction chargeback proceedings for the item and the delivery cost of that item in question, reason: faulty goods.
They had to order the parts from Poland as the item meantime had gone out of stock in Switzerland. I tried to order them myself from Poland, but after 1 month they (in Poland) decided they couldn't deliver to private addresses in Switzerland because of customs. So it was sent to Conforama on a truck. They then had to come back to mine, with the 2 parts, over 50 kilometres, 2 guys in a truck arrived 90 minutes early(!!), so they were lucky I was at home, plus this time they made sure I had everything to avoid further issues.

Re: Lazy Conforama delivery service

I had a very bad experience with Conforoma after I ordered furniture from them in 2009. Most of what I bought broke down (with minimal use) and we ended up getting rid of it in less than 12 months. Never Again.

When I was in UK, the front office always used to add something like "Contents not checked" against the signature to indicate that they hadn't had chance to check before the courier left, and they were only signing for delivery and not signing that the goods were OK.

Would this have any standing in law in Switzerland (or UK for that matter) when a vendor tries the "well you signed for it" defence? Was it ever necessary? Is it unreasonable (in law) to assume you've signed to say that goods are undamaged and complete?

I wonder what they do now that you sign a palm device and not a bit of paper.

On Conforama deliveries you sign pen on paper still.

And basically, when you sign for any postal parcel, you are signing for receipt of the parcel, not the contents, there is no telling what is inside, nor whether it is damaged etc. Any claim for faulty/missing goods/contents/quantities thus can still be valid.

Re: Lazy Conforama delivery service

Just ordered a table from them yesterday, and they said it would be delivered next Monday Hope it gets here on time with all the parts...

Do they have a refund policy if you aren't happy with their product/service? I wanted to asked them while at the store, but no one seemed to speak English (and I don't speak German)

From my (limited) experience with them, if it's a stock item that you're just having delivered (I'm guessing this is the case with such a short leadtime) then they're fairly reliable. It seems to be when it's a make to order or out-of stock-item that their delivery estimates seem to be over optimistic.

Re: Lazy Conforama delivery service

Update from my previous post. I got my couch from Conforama and everything went well. They were supposed to come between 130-300 but they called me and they came early. They interrupted my lunch but assembled the couch so i cant complain

Edit: when i ordered it, they told me it was out of stock and they were expecting it in three weeks. It arrived to them after 25 days so it was still on schedule i would say

Hello,
I`ve ordered a cupboard from Conforama on the 2nd of October (at one of the stores) and still haven`t received it. Every time I call them they extend the deadlines which really drives me crazy.

Is there any way to influence/punish these reluctant guys?
Go cheap, expect Pfister service...

Re: Lazy Conforama delivery service

Where I live is directly on the border of two communes, in fact when I am upstairs I'm in my own town, downstairs I'm in the neighbouring one. In typical Swiss style the street where I live is renumbered once the boundary is crossed, so in my case there are two number 15's within 200 metres of each other. Conforama dumped a load of stuff outside the other property without getting a signature. We went backwards and forwards for 5 weeks until the other owner came back from his summer vacation and phoned me. So then I contacted Conforama and told them they had delivered to the wrong address. I more or less had to beg them to pick the stuff and deliver it to the correct address. The process from start to finish lasted almost two months. Never again!

Re: Lazy Conforama delivery service

My table arrived on schedule with all the parts. We very much like the table for what we've paid for. However, the coating on the table top is getting removed with either moisture or heat because it would have marks where we put our plates on. It now has sort of white spots with unpolished wooden surface. I guess I am too lazy to return in and get a new one (don't want to go through all the hassle that's been reported here). I will just have place mats or apply extra coating myself. I think that would be more cost/time efficient than going through stressful phone calls, emails and waiting period without a dining table.

Re: Lazy Conforama delivery service

Just bumping this...
I ordered (and paid for) a bed from Conforama for home delivery - before the lockdown but, unfortunately, just after the last unit in stock in the store was sold. It's therefore due to be coming centrally/from another branch or sth - not from my local store's stock anyway. Online tracking says likely delivery date 31 March (ie tomorrow) so I just rang to check it's still on track - because we need to make sure we have something to sleep on! - only to be told there will be no deliveries before the end of the Coronavirus situation because the store is closed and hence not receiving goods. Grrrr.
If Ikea et al can deliver directly to your home (and, for that matter, waive their express delivery fee) and not via a store, why the devil can't Conforama? And is there anything whatsoever I can do about it? My back isn't going to enjoy having to sleep on the old bed for another 6 or however many more months it's likely to be.
I guess I'm just having a rant, but would I at least have any grounds to demand a refund of the delivery charge?

The rant is fine.

As to giving them a hard time .... they are not closed because they were in the mood to do so. Conforama is a very cheap shop, their margins are probably pretty low (a guess, I never studied a balance of theirs). As soon as they can they will deliver. Why exactly should they do that for free when they do?
At least somebody picked up the phone and gave you a proper explanation.

There's this solidarity thing ..... you're not losing anything, it's just delayed. For pretty good reason.

Yes and no.

The bed is still available for sale on their website with a delivery date of "unter 3 Wochen" - only in-store collection is advised as impossible until 20 April. My tracking states a delivery date of 31 March. Their own Coronavirus info page states all advised deliveries and orders (and I consider an order confirmation with a tracking page with a delivery date to be advice) will still be delivered, except Ticino where no deliveries are currently possible. Assembly orders will be converted into delivery only to the kerb. To me, all that says deliveries will be made - after all they have a contract to execute and while every other business is doing its very best to adapt to the circumstances, they seem to be merely sitting on my money, apparently doing nothing.

Therefore, at the very very least, Conforama should be voluntarily contacting everyone who placed an order before 17 March (or at least 14 March when the first tightening happened)) with clear information about what is happening with their order. If they cannot execute their contract, they should be cancelling or at least advising what they plan to do about it - not just silence. It's a major customer-service and PR fail at best. They may be a lower price point than, say, Pfister, but they are still a multi-million EUR/CHF business and they are not cheaper than some others that are doing a better job. I don't have the funds to simply bankroll a large corporation that can't be arsed to do anything except send sales e-mails begging you to buy more from them.

Yes, it's force majeure, but everyone else is at least communicating, and mostly adapting. And I am losing something - I'm losing a good night's sleep for the sake of my back, I'm losing what little interest I might otherwise be getting on my money, and if Conforama goes under because it isn't willing to find another way to fulfil its contracts, there's a risk of losing my money altogether.

Agreed.
Except for this <<I'm losing what little interest I might otherwise be getting on my money>>. Unless that bed is 'something else' (gold plated, self-making .... what else could I think of).

@eng_ch do be prepared for delivery tomorrow just in case. You're the one who reached out, not them. It's possible the person you got on the phone doesn't actually know what's going on.
