Gangs of motorbikes and a car

Today I was wondering walking saying hallo tschuss to the nice swiss people and they say hallo back. But then all of a sudden a gang of 5 boys and 2 girls come at me blowing horns of the bikes and the car making a mess harassing me insulting me then at last they stopped parked their cars and waited for me then the driver of the car said 'do u have a problem??'. I said no and continued walking then he again started insulting while the others said nothing. While passing me by at last he showed me the middle finger. Now I am afraid to go out walking alone in and staring to have a second opinion about swiss people. What can I do?? Note I got his license plate number.

Re: Gangs of motorbikes and a car

What could have been the trigger?

Mismatch on time and location for any / one of
- genotype
- attire
- body language
?

Or a "history"?

Based on the triggers it may be possible to address what to do.

Well, Fribourg does have the highest crime rate in Switzerland, allegedly. Maybe they were just down on their quota for the month?

Exactly why are you afraid of his finger?

Anyway, it was probably my daughter and/or some of our frinds.

Re: Gangs of motorbikes and a car

I feel there is some information missing. The question "do you have a problem" indicates some interaction had taken place a little before. Did you express disapproval of their "mess"? Also a car and bikes on a wanderweg? And with all those nice Swiss people (how did you know they were Swiss, could you check their passports?) around why were you the only one to object?

Sounds like harassment to me (possibly because you are visibly an Auslander). Keep the license plate no. in case it happens again. I wouldn't report it as its just kids being obnoxious but if it happens again and you recognize them, then report it to the police.

Re: Gangs of motorbikes and a car

Being 'greeted' with tschüss may be taken as 'good riddance'. Either that or there's quite probably more to your story.

Next time say grüetzi, bonjour or hello instead.

True, it sounds a bit like telling someone to get lost. Gruezi would be a better bet in getting a nice response on a greeting.

You'd be better off saying "bonjour" in Fribourg. You probably upset some members of FUCIA*.

Tell us the full story please because I don't believe you were just walking and saying hello to get such a reaction.

What you can do? Nothing.

Not sure either why a middle finger scares you.

If there's indeed been no provocation on your end (I have a feeling there probably was), these were very likely bored teens, that's all. No harm done. Move on. If it happens again, report them, though I have a feeling that won't help much.

What does your sentence "staring to have a second opinion about swiss people" mean btw?
