| | Insurance dilemma
Thoughts on this
I fell of my bicycle and broke my iPhone6s which was insured, but the insurance company are being very picky with me sent me an online form demanding for evidence including a picture of it which is impossible as I took it to the Apple Store and the guy there said he'd look to see if it can be fixed and let me know before he fixed it ( I didn't confirm I actually wanted it to be fixed I asked for a quote )
Anyway they fixed it so now it's mended Apple want 150chf and obviously now I can't get a pic of the damage because it's fixed
Payed insurance for nothing bloody annoying
Rant over

Rant over | | | | | Doesn't sound overly picky to me. I bet they get a lot of dubious claims for mobile phone damage.
In general insurance companies wanting supporting documentation for a claim (where applicable) - receipts, medical reports, police reports, photographic evidence

Blame the Apple Store as they apparently fixed the phone before you confirmed you wanted it fixed. Also, the insurance company is not picky "with you", but with everyone. One could understand they ask for proof given they probably have a lot of questionable cases related to "broken" phones.
Any insurance will always ask for proof of your claims in some way or another. Which makes perfect sense to me.
Guess you can ask the Apple store whether by any chance they took a picture before repairing the device. If yes, use that.

Insurance 101: Report problem, ask insurer for next steps / approval of actions.
Any deviation -> potential for, err, complaints.

As I was visiting my Agent to renew my policies he told me about this great new insurance to cover electronics. I told him its too late, my kid already dropped here iPhone. He asked if I had got it fixed yet. Ah no, I replied. Send us a pic and we'll cover it minus the deductible. Come to think of it, it is somewhat of a Swiss bargain.

Will your repair receipt not do as evidence?

Probably wouldn't prove that it was broken in an accident...

Actually thank you for that it's a good idea when I pick it up il ask Apple to explain exactly what was wrong with it and fill the claim form in and see what happens as its a smashed screen it's obviously an accident I don't make a habbit out of smashing phones on purpose lol cheers for that it's worth a try

Much less to check for proof (where's the stone btw?), but to make sure your window is actually broken and make sure replacing the shield is reasonable.
Same with the picture of the broken phone glass. | Quote: | | | | | Actually thank you for that it's a good idea when I pick it up il ask Apple to explain exactly what was wrong with it and fill the claim form in and see what happens as its a smashed screen it's obviously an accident I don't make a habbit out of smashing phones on purpose lol cheers for that it's worth a try | | | | | Having them confirm it was severly scratched, probably recently, wouldn't hurt either.

Incidentally, don't be tempted to raise a police report. You're likely to get a fine for falling off your bike.

In the case of a car windscreen- also to see if it can be repaired. some insurances have an agreement with repairers and will trust their judgement.
With all insurance claims, you must always phone them first for advice and go-ahead- and provide whatever evidence they require first.

What did the insurance cost? Less than replacing the screen i guess, but plus some hassle of admin.
AppleCare is 90chf for two years.. I can break my phone and get a full replacement twice or have xx number of repairs / screen changes etc.
Usually and of course accidentally, I drop my phone the week before the next model released - it's really convenient for resale |
