It's not a racist word, it's German for 'foreigner'.

Also, if you don't like it, why do you use it, or don't you speak English?

Here's a basic language lesson for you:

English: foreigner

German: Auslander

French: etranger

Italian: straniero

Tom
Then unequivocal conclusion and consent should be that we are talking about "stranger". The strangers usually do strange things so that explains it all (their attitude and what what ...)

Now, the Americans embraced the concept of "alien". This means that their all countrymen are fellows and the rest of the world is perceived to belong to the outer space where hardly anyone would venture into unknown.

So here you go you find unleashed aliens roaming aimlessly and infesting the EF everywhere you go ...

Re: 9 months in Switzerland - a honest report.

Can anyone give me a brief resumé of the last 20-odd pages or so, please? I want to make a judgemental and mildly offensive post, but I need to know to whom I should direct it.

Ta very much.

The answer to your question depends on who you intend to target.

I like Russians. All the ones I've met have a sort of "don't give a shit" attitude, which is kind of cool. Then there are the ones on youtube who are all mental as fcku.

It's all their "poor little me" former colonial subjects who get on my nerves. Not the Poles - they've had a genuinely hard time - but all the other ones who think they have some inherent right to be counted as European, despite mostly being descended from hairy barbarians from the steppe.

I say give everything east of Vienna to the Russians and be done with it. They'd be happy, we'd be happy, what is there not to like?

I would include Vienna But keep Wieners and Wiener Schnitzel , not the whiners. There "Real problems"

Cannot dear, as an emigrant yourself you'd be among the last persons in the world entitled to look down to immigrants, even if it's about your native country. Especially when they were issued the right to stay here by the immigration authorities, mind their own business, pay (lots of) taxes and contribute to the community. I think you have lost that right long time ago, and honestly, Switzerland still does a good job with selection, at least in general...OP and his trolling behaviour aside.
You've made lots of insulting posts since you joined this forum. Maybe it's a way to reconnect with your old country, or to feel empowered, who knows. But if you choose to spend some time here and not on online platforms related to Canada, as it would be normal, it would be a better idea to be more supportive to the whole immigration in Switzerland thing. Whom you like or dislike has 0 importance, trust me. We all have to put up with each other.
Some nice poster (you know who you are) send me a kind PM about the whole thing. You enjoy a lot of sympathy here - understandable, but that alone does not mean you're entitled to be as rude as you can and always get away with it.

Have a nice day.

The length of time given to edit posts also increases for posters with more posts to their name so 'oldies' who've posted loads of crap sorry useful information get longer to edit their posts.

I don't take orders from stuck up middle class knobheads, and neither does Cannut.

That is correct, the groan, thank, and edit buttons don't appear until the member has been here a week, and accumulated 10 posts.

Having only recently walked into a room of strangers and more or less shouted "Everybody here is an asshole" the OP may not have access to the thank, groan, or edit buttons for a few more days - all the more reason to be a little bit more reserved.

In the grand scheme of things, I don't think my forgetting this newbie limitation is going to have made his life significantly worse.

Given that you have been thanked by S2tlemans, I would have said you should direct it to JohltaVontra, me or Greemount in that order. But seeing that you are probably Irish, I will give you the benefit of the doubt just because you are a lovely people.

But you were influenced by your prejudices and could not believe the guy might be telling the truth. So after all, with all your preaching about circularity and the like, you are obviously not an open-minded person.

His wife is Irish (correct me if I'm wrong Paddy), and that kind of makes him OK too.

Aand we have a winner! Please take your assumptions and generalisations and shove them up your hole.

FYI I am neither Irish nor a "lovely person"; I'm actually a bit of a *unt, but I get by.

Oh how right you are. I am indeed influenced by my own prejudices, predilictions, and preferences. As are you, and the OP and anyone else.

I could have believed that the OP was "telling the truth". I would hessitate to call him a liar, but as far as I can tell if there is such a thing as truth, then his approach to discovering it, and interpretation of it's implications, doesn't seem to be particularly effective. He isn't wrong, it's more a question of being wrong headed.

I don't preach about circularity, but I do point it out. As you, apparently, also do.

I wish I were more open minded. I take comfort in being less single minded than others.
