Swiss life, anecdote #45:

I was speaking with some Swiss (we were both a bit tipsy in case you ask yourself how that was possible) and told him how shitty is social life in Switzerland for foreigners (I said auslanders).
So you are making progress. Good, congrats.

Now if only you could keep from spurning the locals ...

Wouldn't it be logical that the need and longing for social interaction would be more acutely felt by a new coming foreigner than a Swiss who grew up around social interaction all their lives?

What do some foreigners expect of the Swiss? Sing and dance for them?
Guggenmusic
Fasnacht celebrations
and from the Swiss tourist here and here.

Not as good as the banjo playing in North Georgia of course

Yeah, depress the hell out of them. And if any complain or cop an attitude, send them back home!

The Willkommens BS has run its course. Send them home It just ruins the vibe around here. No more jobs! We'll build robots instead. Robots don't cop attitudes.

I thought you were Russian. Why are you wearing earmuffs in this pic? Not used to the cold?

those are not earmuffs, but latest Lada's headphones. I like to listen to Chajkovski when delivering democracy.

Cshajkovski? That stuff only makes you sit there and think about your problems.

No wonder the russians rarely win.

Spring wound headphones? Who'dathunk. Besides, I think you're lying, they're kind of stylish for a Lada.

Good job you included the pic because until I clicked on it my immediate thought was this...

Of course you had one for 25 years - it took that long to fill the stamp book in order to buy a replacement

25 years? Was it parked in a sealed room filled with dessicant? After 25 years there can't have been all that much left of the original vehicle. They were quite popular when they were first introduced to Canada. Not bad little cars really, but they tended to be as biodegradable as the Fiats that they were copied from. They were even rustier than the Golf I, and that took some doing.

Re: 9 months in Switzerland - a honest report.

Ladas were built with the motto "If a car is going to rust it might as well start in the factory"

Lada was one of the first manufacturers to introduce keyless entry to a production car - you simply slipped your hand through one of the panel gaps
