übertretungsanzeige - Ticket for driving in an area

Hello,
I received today a "übertretungsanzeige" ticket while I was driving past weekend in Zurich and I have no clue how I managed to break the rules again.
The "Ziffer" is: "nichtbeachten des Vorschriftssignals verbot für motorwagen"
But I did not see any relevant sign and neither did I see a flash.
Anyone having past experience on this?

Thanks

Someone probably saw you driving there and noted the plates.

Re: übertretungsanzeige - Ticket for driving in an area

It's written:
"unser automatisches Verkehrsüberwachungsgerät"
in the beginning of the ticket description.
But I am very positive of NOT seeing a flash.

Uhm, not everything needs a flash? You drove on a road where cars weren´t allowed. Unfortunately a fine for you

IR = Infrared?

I wouldn't be surprised if those guys use already an advanced AI that can understand the drivers that are about to commit an offence and already mails them the ticket before they have the chance to actually do anything.

Video or eye witness. Even a fixed camera without a flash might be possible. I'd guess the big flashes are more useful when calculating speed, so just a notification that a car is somewhere illegal might not need it.

Did you drive in the place mentioned in the ticket, or do you not think you were there?

If you definitely weren't there, then contest it.

A sign must have been there and not seeing the device does not help avoiding that ticket. Take a bike, ride that road and see where it is? Does it matter?

Your only chance might be to go see for yourself, and if indeed no signs are present make photo's/video of this and protest the fine.

Yes, the flashes are (or were) an integral part of the process of proof for speeding, giving as they do an accurate, timed pair of photographs of the vehicle moving across fixed marks on the road. Later speed cameras don't always need this, but the flash had been left as part of the deterrent and to ensure people are aware that they'll be receiving a ticket in due course. They also allow the driver to be identified, which in some countries may be a requirement as well.

Non-flashing cameras are used to identify vehicles in lots of places these days, including illegal use of bus lanes, congestion charge enforcement and for 'section control' speeding. Simply showing a vehicle's presence is in many cases sufficient proof.

I guess you were driving at night, then? Google street view shows a sign forbidding vehicular access between 22H and 03H.

Re: übertretungsanzeige - Ticket for driving in an area

(parts of) that area are accessible only for the people living there, at two points this is checked automatically now, see post #12. When did it happen?

See here. The sign says at the bottom "[applies] from 10pm to 3am"
