Can't cover school cost

I live in switzerland one year now. Im 16year old, i learned german langue one year and now i am in school but my german is not good. I can't find a job or (lehrestelle) without langue they told me (from informing center) about a college "BBZ" which is to learn langue but that comes with high cost around Fr.7'000 year. My family can't pay that cost cuz my dad works but he has not an high salary my mom work not because of her health problems.
My dad pays for my sister but he can't cover that for me.
Where i can go to seek help for cost of school fees (cuz im unable to pay it).
I am an (EU) citizen.

Hi Nikoo, welcome to EF.
You have no interests???????? (reading your profile). I don't believe that

Did you go to school here? There is a 10. Schuljahr (10th school year) for people who don't know what to do yet/who have not found a place to do an apprenticeship/what ever.

I can not really advise you as you live in Thurgau. Go see them, if they can't advise you they can tell you who can.

Get active (you started with that by joining here and asking for info, well done). Make a list of what you're interested in - never mind if any adult tells you it's "useless", it can lead to ideas.

Re: Can't cover school cost

Learn the language by yourself - it seems that you can at least pay for the internet, so what more do you really need these days?

And then 7000 Fr/year sounds like it'll get you a private teacher. Have you consider sharing a teacher with a group? That'll get you into a far more manageable price range, see for example Migros Klubschule's pricelist: https://www.klubschule.ch/Angebote/S...urse/Niveau-B1

Re: Can't cover school cost

Nikoo, is the course you want to take the cantonal integration course here?

https://abb.tg.ch/public/upload/asse...onskurse_b.pdf

It looks like the first course, for 12-16 year olds, that is, those still of obligatory school age, is paid for by the Schulgemeinde.

But I was surprised at the high cost for the second and third courses, given that this is a cantonal integration initiative.

If this is the course you are interested in/were recommended to take, why don't you call the office responsible for these courses and simply ask if there is a possibility for help with the cost. It can't hurt to ask. Worst that can happen is they tell you no.

---

If you can't afford the fees, though, why don't you look for alternative German courses?

There should be options that are much less expensive.

A quick search brought up this, from Fachstelle für Integration Frauenfeld:
http://www.infomig.ch/index.php?opti...id=7&Itemid=17

Cost is 869 per semester, less if you live in Frauenfeld.

I'm sure there are other similar integration-targeted language courses, this was just one of the first that I found.

Might I ask, what are your medium and long term goals? Perhaps if you shared where you'd like to be once your German is better we could come up with other ideas to help get you on that path.

All the best...

Re: Can't cover school cost

Looks like your parents have to have lived for 5 years in the canton to have a right to cantonal Stipendien. https://stipendien.tg.ch/
Depending on what you want to do you could try looking for a Lehrstelle for a EBA (2 year apprenticeship and is the lowest form of professional qualification) which is very practical oriented. https://berufsberatung.ch/dyn/show/2101
If your german gets better in the process then you can go on and complete an EFZ (3-4 year apprenticeship) in the same profession and get access to tertiary education if that's your final objective.
But I would go to the information center and explain your situation precisely, maybe they can find something that is less expensive or free, or they know where to get funding.

Re: Can't cover school cost

Could your school help you get an apprenticeship in Ticino? Seeing as you're Italian and all.

Could be a bit difficult to cover the living costs in Ticino.

Nikoo, have talked to your commune or your canton education department?

We had a work colleague who brought his 16 year old daughter over who didn't speak a word of French. They put here in a special integration year where she learned French and is working on getting the Swiss 'high school diploma'.

I live in switzerland one year now. Im 16year old, i learned german langue one year and now i am in school but my german is not good.

So I guess Nikoo went into Integration class for one year and has now to cope with normal Sekundarschule and realizes that he did not give his best.

Most teenagers I know who went to Integrationsklasse took it really serious and were aware that they got a great opportunity. They knew they had a real chance to make it. After half a year, most of them wrote, read and spoke fairly decent and most were diligent. I was teaching just one room away and was touched when they came up to me, trying out their newest German words and sentences. Will never forget those big smiles!

Then there were always some coddled kids who thought they would become rich just so. They had big problems with finding a Lehrstelle - everything was too lowly for them and grades didn't match anyway and German was too bad to be able to survive an apprenticeship.

I do not think state school should pay for those who are not able to take a chance.

Nikoo, you might try to work at the cashiers and filling up shelves in MIGROS or Coop during your school breaks. Money is not bad - use it wisely - and you can train your German.
And it will look good in your CV when applying for an apprenticeship.

Could be, but then there might be kids who's parents could be actually really poorly informed and then they might insist on kids doing what they think is right. Or, a situ between kids and parents not being the easiest, what do we know.

To have a 16yr come and reach out to us, is not a bad step, Nikoo - good luck. Now, if you can, show the same independence, and get your German up to snuff. Every single day, language tandem, UniPop twice or three times a week, films in German, watch news every day, just the regular drill most of us had to do. You can reach your dream, but it might take longer and will definitely require a lot of effort, cooperation and humility on your part. You can do it!

Re: Can't cover school cost

Googled it for you Nikoo!

https://faq.migros.ch/de/detail/biet...-ferienjobs-an

The teenager next door did it and she told me that it was real work but well paid. She used it to fund her vacation and some went to her student funds.
