How to reduce rating for a englishforum member

I am a bit astonished at the abusive bahaviour of a member of EF. Can anyone advise how do I give his profile a reduced rating?

I had offered a washing machine for FREE and this person sent me a pm. His partner (wife?) then reached out and between the two of us I tried to help her understand what she would need to do with the logistics. ie she would need 2 strong guys to pick it up (no she couldn't do it herself it was too heavy, no I couldn't move it myself - i am a small woman), need a handtrolley etc as it had to be moved up a flight of stairs. (about 9 emails back and forth). During this whole time there was no contact or help with any of this by her husband.

So after not hearing from her a while i accept the offer of someone else to pick it up as I was worried she wasn't prepared or able to do this herself.

I let her know (gave her 3 days notice from when she was going to try to pick it up) and get an abusive message from her husband then he gives me a red rating to top it all off.

Can anyone advise what I can do or should do on this?

It won't help you this time but in future, never offer anything for free.

People don't take it seriously, leave you hanging around, don't turn up and sometime ask you to deliver it for them.

Re: How to reduce rating for a englishforum member

A free washing machine? It's free, I take it, cos you wanted to get rid and if whoever did not come and take it off you quickly, prepared with available transport etc., then tell them to sod off..

I had a large free tv to give away a while back and got the same old crap from some lad who wanted to carry it down to the train station, lol! Kept emailing/ asking me if he would be able to manage it.. while he faffed and wasted my time, I gave it away to someone else who picked it up in their car with the minimum of fuss.

Pay no heed, internet is full of idiots. Real life is better

Thanks so much. I couldn't believe the whole thing. Same here, guy came prepared and picked it up, all good.
Thanks for the great advice, will go have a glass of wine and remember life is good LOL. Glad to hear you got rid of your TV to someone who appreciated it...

Re: How to reduce rating for a englishforum member

What speaks against naming and shaming if the culprit misused the pebbling system here?
OP's reputation is bad because they didn't give culprit the present?! That is misuse.

Or should we all red-pebble OP now? I don't know about you but I didn't get a free washing-machine from OP either.

(just in case someone got part 2 of my post wrong again)

A couple of points here and there make no difference to established users. If a newbie is unfairly red pebbled, a friendly veteran will usually put them right.

The system is pretty much meaningless anyway. More of a game than a viable "reputation" guide.

Though it's been a lot less fun since they throttled our powers to five points a throw...

I used to be able to give or take twenty at a throw. It used to go up the more rep you had.

Naturally, I abused my powers with glee.

So you abused it and now complain because you got stomped on. Typical.
