The name and shame (with proof) thread

We hear plenty of stories of people having bad, indifferent, or downright dodgy experiences in Switzerland. It's time for a thread where you can post proof of these disreputable people, businesses, educational institutions and government departments! If you have a story to tell, please post photos or other proof to back it up.

To start things off, this receipt for a quick lunch at Pizzeria Chez Paolo in Gland (VD) in 2013 is doing the rounds on social media (again). The diners were charged CHF 2 each for not ordering any drinks! I wonder if patrons are charged for not speaking French, or not leaving within 45 minutes. And do they get a discount if they don't use the bathrooms, or drink straight from the bottle, leaving the glasses untouched?

Do I understand the thread well and is a restaurant named and shamed because of 4 CHF 5 years ago? Then better come up with a good example.

Rule No. 1 in Switzerland, never go to a Restaurant... unless you are prepared to pay an astronomical price...

Surely rule no. 1 is "do your research so you don't get stiffed"?

And how exactly am I able to "do my research" without forum threads like this one?
I doubt it's written outside the restaurant "We charge you 2 CHF for not drinking our beverages"

Was it you or someone else who wrote, on another thread, not to use Trip Advisor to 'do your research' as it's full of false reviews? *

* I've found it fantastically useful, with a bit of filtering.

I've found some excellent restaurants in many countries which I have visited because I was in the neighbourhood and checked Trip Advisor for restaurants with mostly five-star ratings.

Not sure how else you can look as the taste of the food is the main requisite for me and it can be difficult to tell what that is like without eating there first.

So, how do you look?

Sorry but with all due respect, I really don't need your advice on whether a restaurant is good or not.

I thought this was a name and shame with proof thread.

We all know that most restaurants in Switzerland are overpriced, its just dissapointing when they are overpriced and crap. But the qualiuty of the restaurant is not what this thread is about.

What i mean is Tom, if you haven't the intelliegence to filter Trip Advisor as you do, just trying restaurants from the first 5 hits, you have not much chance of finding a good restaurant with reasonable prices and not looking to extract money from you at any price.

Re: The name and shame (with proof) thread

It's actually quite difficult to name and shame a restaurant and provide proof - on this thread.

How can you prove service was bad? How can you prove the chicken was off?

How can you prove that food for different diners in a group was brought to the table not at once, not within five minutes but after fifteen minutes, or in one case here for, an hour after the other people at the table had got theirs.

Wouldn't it be better to have a thread where people can name and 'not shame' companies or restaurants with fantastic service?

Re: The name and shame (with proof) thread

But here's a name-and-shame with photographic proof.

Kantonsspital Luzern's attempt at at a plaster-cast for a broken arm -try and twist your arm and hold it with the palm of the hand upwards and see how long you can hold it like that until the twisting action starts making your arm ache.

The Zuger Kantonsspital was shocked too and took the cast off and replaced it done properly the next day.

Should have been done right the first time with the palm against the torso.

Better? Perhaps, maybe even probably. Looking forward to that thread.

Meanwhile, name & shame (with proof) posts go here...
