La Redoute Scam

Has anyone had a similar experience being scammed by a major online retailer?
I have recently purchased a furniture item from La Redoute, and then, through an exchange of many emails with customer service had it exchanged for free because it had a defect. Lo and behold, a month later I get an invoice from them for the difference between the price of the item and the price of an EARLIER item I had returned months ago! Two completely different items!
All the email exchanges agreeing on a free exchange and that of the earlier emails confirming returns are available in my inbox.
I tried to send them many emails to clarify the problem. They ignored them completely.
Now, I just a got a letter saying they'll transfer the case to a debt collector!
Gosh!.. this is SO frustrating ! just shamelessly ripping you off...
Any advice...

Re: La Redoute Scam

Yes, send a registered letter (not e-mails) with copies of your e-mail correspondence with them and threaten to take them to court if they don't desist.

If you want things done officially here you must do it by registered letter, nothing else counts.

Re: La Redoute Scam

You could add that if they don't stop that you will file to have costs occurring from this to be reimbursed by them.

True, just be very clear in what you write and keep it strictly factual.

Stop claiming that it's a scam?

Ya well, wish I didn't have to. Just google their reviews and you'll see how " professional" they are

Do not claim it's a scam!
Write factual, best listing the events simply and clearly, mention what email copies you're adding to the letter (annexe: your email of 1.1.18, my email of 5.1.18 ..... Skip the emotions, this is business.

And while it is business you still have to leave them space to keep face.

Crap customer service and scams are quite different things.

La Redoute Scam

Hello everyone out there....
Happy Holiday Season to all, and wishing everyone a great time free from La Redoute scams

I have posted about my problem with La Redoute back in September and received some helpful advice from participants. Now this continuing Saga has unfolded as follows:
After this guy in charge of decision making at the customer service department, named Soufiane Haddad, agreed in not one but two emails to replace, free of charge, a dresser I had ordered and received in a defective condition, he sent me a bill for a difference in price between the new replacement dresser and another furniture item that I had returned five months earlier!
I wrote emails to indicate that this is an accounting error. I included his own emails where he agrees to replace the dresser free of charge. He ignored all of that and kept sending me one bill after another, with the added charge penalties of course ( Verwaltungsspesen).
I sent them a registered mail with letters in English and German to explain in detail all the dates and purchases and to provide evidence from the email exchange history I had with this Soufiane Haddad from customer service, to prove my side of the story and his explicit approval for a free exchange.
All of this was ignored. They kept sending me threats and finally they had the file transferred to a collection agency = "Debitors".
Well now I am writing this to hear your advice and input on how to proceed further. I have had some people tell me to not give in and to continue fighting this fraudulent corporation, even if it comes to the point of declaring a " Recht Vorschlag" in case things reach the "Betreibung" phase.
Others have told me to just pay them ( which is now double the original amount due to the consecutive addition of penalty charges) so that I do not risk a "Betreibung" that will smear my reputation in case I ever need to do any future dealings like moving house, or applying for a job or the like....
So, I really appreciate your take on this and any helpful recommendations you have to offer.....
Thanks to all in advance.....

Re: La Redoute Scam

If Swiss law is in this the same as in the countries around us, you should dispute the bill meaning that any costs from further letters and collection agency's are beyond any doubt not yours and they should have gone to court straight away, if the story is as you say court will solve this and hand them the costs of the court case.

Don't feel threatened, you have all the data to proof you are correct, it might just take some time before this ends up at the people who will declare that you are correct and that they should leave you alone.
