Neighbour's led lights into our home

OK, you can call me the Grynch who stole Xmas and I don't mind at all: here's the rant. Vicious neighbours opposite (he is nicknamed "Grumpy fascist" and she "Toxic woman" in the village, for justified reasons!), on top of being naturally obnoxious and with an unhealthy penchant for garden gnomes, plastic garden windmills and anything ugly you can buy in the cheap aisle of the cheapest garden centres, have decided this year, in addition to all their garden junk and ghastly Xmas decorations, to grace us of one of those LED projected lights that move round, not just on their f*** ugly house, but also on ours, going through the windows.

When we try and enjoy the simplicity of a couple of candles and dim lights, we suddenly feel we're in a frigging funfair. With the exception of closing all the shutters and live like barricaded victims, is there anything one can do (talking to them nicely is not an option... just going and knocking on their door would give them the excuse to try and sue you for trespassing, they have done it with another neighbour!)

Black clothes, shoe polish on your face, wait for a dark night, crawl over to their lawn to where the projector is and... insulate the bastard with expanding foam.

Doesn’t Geneva ban flashing lights? Not just at Christmas, but year round? Ask your commune.

Asking for all EF members in a similar situation: does it make you stop yodeling?

Yep, would really hate that too - totally get it.

Have you read John Grisham's 'Missing Christmas' - very different to all his other books

Not so effective with LED lights.

Could take out a few Gnomes with a catapult though which could make up for it.

Mirrors. Many pretty little mirrors - at the right angle.

Put a complaint in to the police or get out there with wire cutters ( insulated of course ). Thats if they are outdoor lights. I'm sure his place is a front for a brothel with all those garish lights and perverted gnomes.

Yes this..
And just for fun, throw the remainder of the foam over the gnomes and other tat in the garden.

Re: Neighbour's led lights into our home

Feel for and with you, have a similar problem.

Appartment Block on the other side of our garden fence....one tenant there goes overboard with blinking lights all over balcony and every window (and not only in December ) and a few floors above several windows are shining bright neonlight into our house (no shutters or curtains apparently, or don't know what they are used for)

We've also one of the village's big Gym halls on the side of the buidling, but from 8pm onwards they lower the big shutters......

As for those neighbours in the appt. block, we now save energy as we don't need to switch on the light in the downstairs loo nor the kitchen.

And when we want to light a fire in the wood burning stove or have some candles inside, WE need to lower all our shutters to be able to enjoy it.

Re: Neighbour's led lights into our home

Building on the mirror theme--

Presumably you have a common fence line or similar where said beam of light crosses your territory. Go to DIY store for some wood stakes of the appropriate height and cheap plastic fencing. Line in with tin foil. Adjust to the appropriate length/ Height to totally block beam and reflect on them. Others will think such contraption part of their festive garden decor. Or they might just get the message.
