Well, I would not be surprised that in your part of the world, what with all the genetic pool being stopped at the Gotthard Tunnel etc., the cross gender boundaries are a bit loose.

Re: Groans, red blobs and forum bullies

I was feeling utterly masochistic and have read my way through the entire thread.

Really, I don't see what this hullabaloo of the OP it is all about. EF has gone the way most forums do....at first everything is full of hope, helpful spirits bending over backwards to help and a kind of trailblazing for all those who follow.

If anything, I feel there were more trolls when I joined in 2006...and if not trolls, then knowitalls and other such unsavoury characters who had a manner of putting down the most helpful members and Swiss amongst us......and there were not as many Swiss in here back then as are now.

Swiss and Switzerland bashing was also more on the forefront than it is now.

EF has mellowed down, and like it is with any family. The hard core that knows each other from yore, has built friendships and experiences animosities and fall outs as happens in the best families. There are open spats as well as ceaseless leg pulling. In times of need everyone stands together and is there to help. That is how I have mostly experienced EF.

Like with every family you have your cousins, that you avoid because of............(fill in space yourself) or that you break of contact because you simply can't stand them.

(OP, EF has an ignore list, so put all those who offend you on that list, and you'll live your EF live in peace)

So why taking personal what some post here and their tone of posting? When in real life I'd bet my last penny, you'd see to avoid those family members at any cost.

As for the red and green blobbies, like with Faceache, Instalam and so .......it is simply a means of a reader to express without words their opinion about your post and if you are lucky they have learnt good manners and say even thank you ,particulary when you go out of your way to help with an answer (Irony off)

Live ant let live....ignore those who upset/anger/annoy you and seek contact with those you like.

I think the OP has a point but I've never seen a forum which doesn't have a clique of "bullies." The ones on here are basically harmless, though, and just need to be ignored. There are so many positive posters on EF that the good far outweighs the annoying.
That pretty much sums up my opinion too.

There are a few people who like to think they are funny and post smartarse comments and they are best ignored. They’re not usually as clever or funny as they like to think they are.

The worst in my opinion are the ones who dish out groans and red blobs like sweeties but don’t actually contribute anything to the discussions.
The thanks/ groans and rep system is all pretty stupid if you ask me but some people seem to take it all very seriously.

Overall I think the good outweighs the bad and nobody is forced to read the stuff they don’t like.

Or, in the case of the latest on my list, they use it as a chance to express words normally prohibited by forum filters.
