Groans, red blobs and forum bullies

Happy Friday!

There is a group of bullies on this forum that have increasingly made this site an unhappy place. I'm talking about Today Only, Papa Goose, Richdog,
st2lemans and the like.

They attack and gain up on polite people who are looking for help in unhappy or difficult situations, and make extremely rude and offensive sexual comments. I wonder how they are allowed to, when I see people easily banned for semi-trollish yet unoffensive posts.

Perfect example here: https://www.englishforum.ch/daily-li...mes-7-a-2.html

I get red blobbed for simply disagreeing with them or for groaning at their offensive posts. Perhaps they do this because it is the only form of power they have in their powerless lives. They make no difference to me, but I wonder why we allow this behavior to continue if we kick off other forum users for much less offenses.

Anyway, you can red blob or groan at me all you want to...I won't even be checking or caring. Just felt like standing up for all the innocent first time users who don't deserve to be victims of their ridiculous behavior.

I am officially leaving the forum, despite some of the really wonderful people on here. i.e. meloncollie, Odile, MusicChick, Blueangel, Sandgrounder, 3Wishes and many others.

WTF are you talking about? In that thread you linked I (former username Richdog) didn't troll anyone. I also don't make 'sexual comments' to people in general.

Sounds like you need to step down from your drama plinth and take a break from internet forums if you are going to be such a delicate little flower whenever someone disagrees with you.

Have a free groan and 'red box' to help you on your way.

Wow!
For me, this just really highlights how so much meaning can be lost in the written word. I've met the OP, and she ain't no delicate little flower. She's a confident and very attractive young woman. (We have met briefly). I don't imagine she'd take much shite IRL.

I don't see any posts from YOU in that thread, and the OP is clearly a (known) troll.

This is the Friday thead, right? OK well I think I deserve more than just being grouped under „and the like“.

So I‘m officially leaving this thread...

Not remembering seeing any sexual comments by Richdog. He's more into fully automatic household appliance, no?

Re: Groans, red blobs and forum bullies

Well, there are much, much worse forums, this one i would say is above average, sometimes properly stellar when one seeks advice, ranting, fun etc.

But its definitely true that some long time users/mods sometimes show less than professional, friendly or caring attitude. One random example - st2lemans or whatever is the nick seems to compensate for something in his life in better half of his posts here, yet from amount of posts it seems like he has nothing better to do in his life. And he is far from only one.

I guess it boils down to the type of people this forum caters to - expats, many in high-stress jobs which require certain type of personality to be successful long term. Yes, I mean various sociopaths, arrogant and aggressive types. Not all are like that obviously, but there are cues in almost every thread here.

For me the nice folks here more than compensate for those occasional black sheeps, who can actually be quite helpful sometimes too, once they get off their high horse

Lost in the written word? Her post left no room for misinterpretation, a lot of drama and much ado about nothing followed by a flounce! You "meeting her briefly" (lol) hardly gives you an in-depth insight into how she deals with anything.

I don't see it as a flounce. I see it "Eff this for a game of soldiers!" Whilst I wasn't familiar with the thread in question, I've just had a quick look and it wasn't ...as good as we can be. We're always going to have it in us to misread a post, take it the wrong way, etc... That's human nature.
