I loathe that loud music, too.

What were you doing in there anyway? I get my shopping at the Migros or Landi and online where possible.

On the first floor they have a household shop. But I was so shocked by all the mirrors that I had to beat a hasty retreat!

And the dirty truth comes out

Are you sure it was H&M? The first floor of the Bahnhofstrasse shop is childrenswear, nor do I recall them playing loud music. Do you mean Zara where the old Orrell Füssli used to be on the corner of Rennweg?

Ah yes. A mirror can be a shocking sight. Always best to avert your face if you have to approach one.

Yes. Also the danger of walking into one. It must drive alot of customers away.

Re: H&M Zürich Bahnhofstrasse.

Interesting overview on music in shops, here:
https://thinkgrowth.org/stores-are-u...e-d6c85974b20b
I don't agree with all the conclusions, though, at least not in their effect on me, and the main one that'll make me about turn and leave the shop again is HIGH VOLUME of the music.

Well talking about making nice smells in the shops C&A Zürich never tried to cover up the smell of the chemi factory where they made their clothes. Really BAD!

Re: H&M Zürich Bahnhofstrasse.

The station half of our Bahnhofstrasse took a tumble downwards about 30 years ago when a number of first-class emporiums left - not being able to compete against cheap imported Asian junk, fast-food chains and plastic coffee shops.
At that time and where today factory-made perfume is sold at discount prices by Coop one could sit outside eat and drink and watch the world go by. The Hotel St.Gotthard also had tables and chairs outside, eagerly pounced upon by passers-by - and today where knocked-down second hand gold is proffered.
The one-time quality products of the lower Bahnhofstrasse have disappeared and have been replaced not at least by a Regent Street but by an Oxford Street mentality.

Schade.

Yes, my first Christmas here was spent outside there quaffing flutes of Champagne for only CHF 5 as it snowed.

I went in there on Thursday with my GF for the first time, first floor to look for bedding. It was cheap, very cool (I mean the a/c - outside was awfully hot) and quiet. There was some strange guy catching his hideous reflection in the 2 mirrors that I encountered and screaming like a banshee as he ran from the store.

But apart from that, the store visit was quite a nice experience.

I'm grateful for every clothing shop that still exists. We're going to see loads of shops closing in the near future as a result of online shopping.

As I said somewhere else. It is the " complaints" corner so don't expect that I should be praising something here.
