I am with OP on this one. Even assuming OP had a car, like you obviously are doing, if you order something to a specific place offered by seller, you don't want to waste time and money retrieving it somewhere else.
I would not like to do so, but if I wanted the package and no hassle I would just grab the package from there.

Iím wrong for expecting my parcel delivered not to a random address but to the actual location I preferred.
You say you are a very experienced online shopper, so how often have you had shops offer to deliver stuff to a post office for you to collect and it worked.

Iíve been here 30 years and have never seen such a service offered by a vendor nor was I aware that the Post offered such a service. Iím aware that:
- you can have a PO Box, although I think you are limited in sending parcels to it.
- you can collect failed deliveries at the post office
- you can manage delivery to a neighbor or a special service at some post office or railway station
- have an agreement for the Post to hold or forward your mail.

And that is it, nothing about sending random packages to a post office for collection.

Delivery to a pick-up point is very normal and there are a lot of possible pick-up points, if I know I'm not at home I let it deliver to the supermarket here.

PickPost. Not only post offices but also grocery stores such as Migros and Spar.

Very convenient when you know you will not be at home but have a nearby place open till late.

Yes, reasonably or at least I thought that was reasonable until I asked here. And also:

...plus I had a flight and I did not plan to go to Sirnach.

...They said it was not possible, but as I won't pick the package from Sirnach in 7 days, it will be returned to them and they will refund me.

It is not the amount of time one can store a once heard information, it's the flexibility of keeping oneself up to speed that enables one to live life to the full.
