Lycamobile Fraud Call and possible data leak

Hi,

Today I got a Whatsapp call from a Swiss number(+41) claiming to be from Lycamobile.

They told me that I won CHF 20,000.00 and when asked for a four-digit code send from Lycamobile to confirm my number. Once I gave it, they asked me to give them a six-digit number sent by WhatsApp (to add my number to Whatsapp), but I refused it as I knew if they were genuine they don't want it?

Then I asked to question their validity, however they claim they are from Lycamobile and told my full name, as well as my current data plan and its validity period. Then I was a little bit convinced, but once they ask for my passport photo I asked to question them again as I already gave one upon registration of my sim. Then they hang the call.

My main intention of writing this email is to inform others to stay away from this. I think even the WhatsApp number they use to call me should be from someone who gave the six-digit code came to their phone.

However, I am a little bit worried how my account details got leaked to the third party, either it should be from Lycamobile part or my bank (UBS) which is highly unlikely.

What can I do to file a proper official complaint to this?

Re: Lycamobile Fraud Call and possible data leak

My first question would be why would a telephone provider use Whatapp to contact anyone??

Seems your Lycamobile account has been compromised. Advise Lycamobile by phone and change your password...

Exactly. And my second question would be why would Lycamobile just randomly give away 20,000.00?

I get these from time to time claiming to be from Migros, Salt, Swisscom etc. Of course they just get deleted.

That should be your first question.

On the other hand Warren Buffet and his wife keep insisting on giving me a much bigger sum and it doesn't look like they're gonna give up trying anytime soon. So why shouldn't Lycamobile?
