I think it's safe to say that Trump is proving in this exceptional time what we knew all along...

He's not up to the job of being a dignified leader.
Fixed that for you.

Re: Chinese tourist invasion

Are people still trolling about the "racism" thing? Kind of sad but each to their own. Some can do only that and react only like that, it's not their fault. However, what I don't understand is why after we (we as in countries, governments) found out about Wuhan nobody was restricting the flights/travels to and from China, no questions were asked at the borders, no explanations asked in general. Of course the virus didn't stay only in Wuhan. Fear of reprisals from China e.g. no more preferential deals etc etc ?
Why all these measures that we are taking these days were taken so late. Why politicians across the world protect the capitals and not their people.

It is simply diligently fulfilling its duty as a state broadcaster representing the current official position of the government it serves. Whether the "information" is true or fake or otherwise is irrelevant.

Italy stopped all flights to/from China at the end of January. I've seen discussions how this actually might have lead to an increasing problem in Italy, since Italian tourists would then fly to another European airport and travel back to Italy by other means - without any control of the Italian authorities.

What is clear is that

Ignorant twaddle. The British government (whether Tory or otherwise) hates the BBC. The BBC is a bunch of liberal, sandal wearing, wishy-washy, bleeding heart, trendy, elitist, tree hugging hippies, but they're certainly are not a mouthpiece for the government! After the last General Election, all parties were complaining about BBC bias so they must be doing something right!

If people can make a tasty meal out of chicken feet, it's because some rich bastard somewhere is eating the rest.

Yes, unfortunately these measures were not coordinated internationally and as we know some people will always find "creative" ways to outsmart authorities. It also has to do with insufficient info about the virus and epidemics they had a month ago. Edit: end of January was a bit too late. Should have been done in all Europe as soon as we found out about Wuhan. They preferred to act as if it was a Chinese problem and the Chinese will take care of it (really? so much trust in a totalitarian regime..wow). Everyone should take care of themselves, why wait till other people react properly or God forbid - learn something, some will never do.

Re: Chinese tourist invasion

More from the BBC yesterday:

Quote:
Pangolins smuggled into China have been confirmed to contain viruses closely related to the one sweeping the world.

Sale of the animals in wildlife markets should be strictly prohibited to minimise the risk of future outbreaks, says an international team.

Pangolins are the most-commonly illegally trafficked mammal, used both as food and in traditional medicine.

Bats are thought to be the original viral source, with another species playing a role in human transmission.
https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-...ost_type=share
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-52048195

Some pointed out on here that it is "racist" to make any connection between Chinese eating habits and medicine practices, and the spread of disease. One wonders if it's also racist to point out that the Pangolin is now a critically endangered species thanks to poaching and illegal trafficking.

President Trump just praised President Xi too! However will his "base supporters" react

So long as you don't blame "The Chinese" for it, why would it be?

Do you blame Africans for the poaching of elephants and rhinos?

Re: Chinese tourist invasion

From the UK Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee.

Quote:
As the country of origin, China initially allowed disinformation to spread as quickly as the virus. Rather than helping other countries prepare a swift and strong response, it is increasingly apparent that they manipulated vital information about the virus in order to protect the regime's image.
https://committees.parliament.uk/com...t-coronavirus/

Also, from the Daily Telegraph in Australia. The Chinese consulate general in Sydney sent a letter to angrily denouncing its coverage of China's pandemic-related role, the newspaper responded point-by-point in a remarkable take down. Hopefully there will be more of this!

#NoSpaceForRacists

For people wanting facts, not your silly anti-china propaganda..

And yes, a "magazine" talking about itself: "our excellent coverage of the coronavirus crisis" certainly must talk the truth, and the truth only (Trump-approved truth, of course..)

That "source" of yours of course perfectly fits into your racist worldview of black and white, where China is evil..

Full with Falun Gong nonsense as "sources" for their articles, wouldn't surprise me if it's funded through "Radio Free Asia" or other Anti-China US-agencies.
