Re: Chinese tourist invasion

I spoke with a tour guide of a Chinese group. He said they only spend one night in Switzerland, because of the cost.

Zürich had a rather large hotel crisis just some 20 years ago (empty hotels) - tourism (rather than business visitors) fixed it up in the last 10 years to such degrees now hotels are jumping up left and right.
I'd be interested to read your reasoning behind this.
From my perspective, there was an issue with a fair number of central hotels still having shared bathrooms which was an absolute no go for my business clients at the time. There were quite a few occasions when clients would request hotels in Baar or Zug with private bathrooms and commute into Zurich from there.

From reading tourism articles over the last couple of summers, there's been an issue with the same clutch of hotels (mainly in the Old Town) not having air con when it's been 30+ degrees outside, but most are working to rectify that now and at great expense. It's a real balancing act for hoteliers when clients crave traditional character properties at a reasonable room rate, yet expect them to also have all mod cons.

Most people there cannot accept that he's going to get a second term.

He is and he should go, but he won't go as there is no credible alternative from the Democrats

Got nothing against a bunch of Baijiu drinking Tourans as long as they don't hold me up at the coop check out demanding a duty free rebate with their Chinese to English translator apps.

Much better to be stuck behind countless cheese eating tourists in Konstanz who demand the same (just to be told it has to be over 50€ now )

The Republicans have Donald, i can hardly see them nominating anybody else than the sitting president.

More chance they would shoot themselves in the head

LOL.
Actually serves us right, considering what the Swiss do in Germany, Italy, France and Austria.

Re: Chinese tourist invasion

It wasn’t too long ago that American tourists were viewed as unwanted and uncultured, earning themselves the label “Ugly Americans” for their apparent ignorance and ethnocentric behavior. Brits were named by some surveys back in the 2000s as the world’s worst tourists for their supposed drunk fits and rowdiness.

That is to say, the crown of “worst tourist” has been passed around, and given that Chinese tourists are the newest and biggest group on the scene, it’s not a surprise they’ve claimed the title in recent years.

And just as not all Brits were drunken louts and not all Americans were obliviously arrogant, not all Chinese are “bad” tourists.

How about you find us the numbers of:

Total amount of Chinese tourists.
Total amount of English tourists.
Total amount of Chinese tourists causing trouble.
Total amount of English tourists causing trouble.

Perhaps on percentage the Chinese are much more decent and better tourists than the English, we all know the stories, but every year more Chinese go on Holiday than there even are English people on the World.

I'd still prefer whatever English or Chinese tourist above any grumpy old racist Australian expat.

Re: Chinese tourist invasion

Heres the easy way to recognize the tourists from Holland ( now officially called Netherlands for obvious reasons )

Many Dutch tourists pack bread and spreads from home, making sure they don’t spend all their money on dubious foreign foods that might not taste good on ontbijtkoek at all! A typical Dutch suitcase will also include toilet paper and Dutch candy, like liquorice.
They get everywhere!
What do you mean, typhoon warning? Most Dutch people are used to walking, driving and cycling through the rain with three shopping bags on the handle bars. They won’t be fazed by rain too easily, and head out when others prefer to stay inside.
Dutch manners
On the one hand, locals from various countries get annoyed by some Dutch tourists being loud, blunt and messy. Queueing in particular seems to be a trick they refuse to get the hang of.
Most tourists from the Netherlands stick with their Dutch-speaking fellow travellers.
In general, there’s a good chance a Dutch person on holiday will ignore you and avoid eye contact at first.

Do you really want to start on how annoying you are? And now I am using a different word from what I wanted to write.

Can you please stop generalizing and stop insulting?

Or do you prefer another time out?
