I'm really curious, though: why not just donate the backpack (since on this thread there is someone who wrote he'd be happy to have it) altogether, or if you still really want to get back the customs duties, why not sell the backpack for 44,85 CHF?

If I were to give the whole package to someone for free, then I would like it to be an organization, that would give it to someone who is in need of it because of the poverty. Giving the backpack to omtatsat doesn't feel right.

As I said, you own the backpack and can do as you please with it, I'm just trying to understand why you would choose this route, when giving it away would save you so much time and effort.
To feel good I want 44,85 CHF back and I also want to get a piece of paper with an official stamp and signature of reception of my donation, so that I can send it to Nordace by mail to prove them, that their package was not kept by me.

Thank you for explaining, CuriousMind. Your feelings are so different from mine that, without your explanation, I would never have accurately guessed what your motivations are.

Why? That just seems so wrong to me, that is a justifiable expense that you had to pay to import the bag. Just give the whole proceeds of the sale, or better still, the whole bag, to charity!

That 44,85 was due anyway. YouŽd have to pay it also if you had received the correct product.

the backpack and the external separator were black instead of beige. Total disaster, unacceptable by my girlfriend,
I think this should be in the first world problem thread. You have no idea what total disaster means and be happy that you and your girlfriend are so spoiled.

Re: Nordace sent the wrong product

Why would someone buy the bag from you for the same price that they could order a new one from Nordace AND get their excellent customer service?

Had the webpage of the Nordace informed me before closing the order, that there will be extra customs duty when receiving the package in Switzerland, then I would have provided the other, EU address for the first time. This information should be provided somewhere during the ordering process. In such a case I would not have to pay the customs duty.

Nobody is forced to buy from me. An advantage of doing it will be receiving the backpack and packing cube much faster.

.
Nordace don't charge customs duty. If the price was in Euros then it should have been obvious you will be importing it and have associated charges.

Re: Nordace sent the wrong product

Meanwhile, I am looking for a proper organization, to which I could donate the backpack and get some official document for it. I did my own search on the internet and went through some parts of this forum too, but if someone of you is sure about some place, that I could get there what I want, then please write here.

You find these Caritas containers everywhere. That is exactly the right place.

Re: Nordace sent the wrong product

When something similar happened to me (with a made to measure shirt) I gave it to an acquaintance and thanks to the producer in his name (for free shirt) and in my name (for hassle free second item).

You can go to any Heilsarmee Brocki and ask for a proof of donation if you think you really need to get that paper.

It's true that Nordace gives an impression of Swiss shop with prices in CHF but in this times you have the same even on Aliexpress. There are two indicators that you will have to pay importing things:
- prices are without VAT (Mwst)
- it is stated in their FAQ
Btw I do not understand how it is possible that you don't pay VAT when ordering into EU, but probably they are doing some "VAT magic" trough funny practise.

I had this on something I ordered quite recently - I forget what, exactly, but I'd started the order using my Swiss address, then realised delivery would be much more expensive, so changed the delivery address to our French place instead, and noticed that the price had dropped below that advertised.

I did wonder if what they were doing was actually correct, but clearly their ordering system saw the Swiss billing address and knocked off the VAT, despite it being delivered within the EU. i wasn't going to argue.
