So what you are saying is that if you are not rich, you don't deserve any protection?

Not sure how long you have been here but shops here are pretty poor at accepting responsibility when a product proves faulty.
It's getting better but it's still quite poor.

Reread the post I'm quoting. Mr. Rich Guy tells other EF member his opinion doesn't matter because he's not a high spender as him.....when having the problem in first place indicates he's not a high spender. Is it wrong to call out a bluff?

True. France is a little better, but there are still some mail order companies like cdiscount that will try to make you deal directly with the manufacturer if the goods are faulty on arrival. Oddly enough, they will allow an item to be returned if you simply don't want it, but not if it's faulty. Twice I ordered a tablet from them that was DOA, twice I had to faff around to take it back to a different place from the delivery 'relais' point to return it, each time having failed to be able to contact the manufacturer's customer service, so simply sent it back as an unwanted item. Their loss, and I won't be ordering from them again.

Amazon's return policy is much better, IME, so despite their demonised status I will continue ordering from them in preference to anyone else, knowing that returning an item will always be possible.

We don't have that option here though. Hardly anything I want from Amazon will ship here.

You yourself should not generalize as well. There are a lot of complaints of customers that are left in the dark when claiming the warranty on expensive products.
I haven't made any generalization.
You used the blanket statement (a.k.a. generalization) which is not correct in 100% of cases:
"Their low prices means that you are buying without warranty at your own risk."

Quote:
Maybe you never bought expensive products in Digitec Galaxus so your testimony may be limited to cheap stuff.
You sound a bit condescending, turn your attitude down a notch.

Especially with those "expensive products" one should double-read the warranty specification and not buy blindly (I'm not claiming you did).
If Digitec/Galaxus have on the other hand specified warranty on their website, then they are in breach of contract and you have the right to a legal / customer protection complaint, I would say.

And no, my testimony is not limited to "cheap stuff" only. I bought cameras, notebooks, tablets etc., all of them with proper warranty coverage, where for some it was also actioned upon.

Re: Galaxus / Digitec

As someone who has purchased stuff from them for many years now, I have consistently seen good customer service. When I have raised an issue, they have fixed it. Did the OP get in touch and ask for support?

I've never had a defective item from Digitec and the complaints against them on toppreise are normally of the trivial variety.

We use Amazon.de and get it posted to an address in Germany and pick it up from there. Handy for us as it is only 30 minutes away. Not much good now seeings as swiss people are banned from going anywhere.......

OK, fixed.

BTw - LG service centre: https://www.lg.com/ch_de/service Contact them and ask how you can claim under warranty. I'd also be interested in whether the OP followed the procedure Digitec lay out.

Edit: I'm no longer interested. This guys had no luck. First this problem with digitec, and then he has problems with the Swiss hospital system. https://www.englishforum.ch/complain...-too-long.html

I'm glad he posted about his monitor issue first - that's clearly far the more important of the two issues.

Hmmm.. something smells trollish.

Completely off topic but some ex member's names have been quoted above and that isn't on. Can this be amended please? They have exercised their right to be "forgotten" under GDPR and should definitely not be used for point scoring.

Delivery and service was always first class. For years now. Problem solving is great and efficient if you tell them exactly what the problem is, how you suggest it be solved and by when.
Last time I had a problem, I suggested 3 solutions, one demanded an addiitonal payment from me (different product). The guy went for my dream-choice plus gave me a 15 Frank voucher instead of charging me the owed difference. On top of that I could do the swap quickly at Digitec Winterthur, no cueing at the post etc.
Maybe he was pleased I expressed myself clearly and offered solutions.

Only had problems that once, delivery is always fast. No complaints from my side at all.
Galaxus is not always cheaper, sometimes Nettoshop/Microspot beat them to it.
Can only second that. Any item I had to return or repair under warranty was done quickly and efficiently. A specific product (bluetooth earphones) kept developing several issues, and each time there was an issue they quickly replaced it and extended warranty like it was purchased on that same day!
I ended up getting 3-4 pairs of earphones. It was just ones that someone who claimed to be the deputy store manager in Geneva refused to take it back arguing that initial two year warranty expired. However, once I mailed the product back to their HQ, the new pair of earphones was quickly sent and the warranty extended for another two years.

Really, excellent company.
