Galaxus / Digitec

Just a quick word of warning to look carefully at any product reviews when buying from Galaxus / Digitec.

I ordered an item but it came supplied with an EU plug. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a kettle. Can't even plug it in!

Ordering from abroad, I could expect something like that but from a ch website I find it unforgivable.

A cursory search for "Galaxus falsches Stecker" brings up a lot of results for a lot of products.

I had it a few times but every time they had an adapter included. And those adapters they include are very small, practical and sturdy. (you can't even get them off without ripping them apart) So I don't see a problem.

If they forgot your adapter just tell them and they'll ship you one.

Nah, I'm not having it. Don't want or need an adapter regardless of how small it is. All of my other electronics have Swiss plugs and fit the outlets.

Maybe try requesting a connector with an OCD limiting function?

Send it back.

(unless it fits one of the excluded productgroups)

Might interest some EFers to know that Galaxus can actually add things to their inventory on demand - often getting a very competitive price as well. I have done this a few times

Out of interest can you post the URL for the product?

Anyway, at the very least they should write clearly when it's a fixed non-swiss cable and provide the adapter considering a kettle is something you probably detach and attach a lot in an already crowded space like the kitchen.

Re: Galaxus / Digitec

It is a cordless kettle?

Most kettles are these days with the cord attached to the base. The bases are normally fairly slim and there's no room for a standard IEC socket so the cord is permanently attached.

The Swiss market is just too small for a lot of manufacturers with large product ranges to accommodate the logistics for a separate Swiss version.

The most you can expect in this case is an adaptor. Just ask Digitec for one.

Let the Support team know. They will send you one for free.

Give a negative feedback on the site. That will help Galaxus/Digitec understand the issue.

Re: Galaxus / Digitec

Just before Christmas I ordered a bike part and received one which was different. It was probably a mistake on my part (they used a generic picture and were ambiguous/unclear on the specs).

I brought it back, and the cashier was pretty rude about it (kinda expected that). Her boss was a bit more indifferent, but said he would open a claim against the supplier, but it would take some time due to Christmas season.

A few weeks later, called back and said full refund with apologies and informed me that the updated the site with more clear details, pictures, and specs.

I was very pleased with the outcome, and thus they still have my full business.

Just my personal story to share.

sorry I agree with the op, an adapter is not acceptable, if I buy from a swiss store I expect at the very least a swiss plug!!

Buying on the internet is convenient...until it is not convenient anymore. :D

By the way, I've bought 2 laptops, 3 phones and several more small thingies from them. Never had a problem.

Complain to customer services and see if they sort you out. Better than flouncing - both you and the company might benefit.

I've never had a problem and I've been a frequent customer for years.

Nah, I just want a normal plug. These adapters people keep mentioning. I think we are talking about two different things. I have seen the pin adapters which slide on the front of the plug unit. Those are perfectly acceptable. They slide on and off the face of the plug, are perfectly robust and are good design. I have got them with a few items, notably phone chargers.

This is not possible here. It's a fully wired plug and the prongs are not removable, nor is the lead from the base unit. The adapter required would be akin to those ones you see in airports and would block other outlets in the wall from being used as they take up too much space. It is totally unacceptable.

Anyway, I called them and am sending it back. They were very nice about it and there was no mention of an adapter.

You won't get one. Read my post. Unless you buy Solis or from another 'Swiss' manufacturer/re-badger.

There's no way Galaxus is going to cut off the Euro plug and wire a Swiss one - they're not allowed to do that.

no but the can add a swiss cable.
They did it for me. Of course the device had a plug not a wire.

Re: Galaxus / Digitec

Usually Galaxus/Digitec has given me an EU plug but it has always worked for me in the Swiss sockets and I assumed Galaxus/Digitec also knew this. Did not know there is a difference between the EU and the Swiss plug except for the extra grounding/neutral leg.
