So you went to a coffee house on a lake, had a nice drink, went to a toilet which had paper, just some people before you made a mess. And that is worse than a 3rd country?

My worst was a toilet that had not been emptied in some time in an eastern country some years ago and shit was pilling so high that you had to shit in some paper next to the toilet and than place it on the pile...
Well it was not really a coffee house. A few seats in the open and someone bringing coffee. The toilet had a large pool of water in the corner!. It was more than a mess.It was an open sewer! It was not even a place to enter but I needed a piss. And the toilet is a public toilet. If I find the time I will take a pic. If I find the time.

LOL another classic thread, never been to a french motorway service station then, or just about any public toilet in italy, or any kind of music festival ?

I think someones never actually been to any '3rd world' country lol
I can assure you I have been to a couple of hundred 3 world toilets. And they were sometimes alot better than this. And to think this toilet is just near the Opera House. A disgrace!

I fly to Edinburgh on Friday and at some point will probably have to use Sh1trail (Scotrail). Now that really IS like experiencing something from a third world country, I would rather travel on the roof of a train in India
But once Scotland gains its independence and renationalise its trains, paying employees decent wages etc., all will be spotless again!

I do hope that was meant to be tongue in cheek ha ha. One thing I can thank the SNP for though, had it not been for IndyRef killing off some of our business contracts in London we probably wouldn't have ended up in Switzerland. It was a choice between working in Basel or Copenhagen for my OH. There is a God

If you do have any pics from offending public toilets in CH feel free to post them. But for the sake of privacy please don't post pics of your own toilet.

We used to get our pop from Alpine. Loved their dandelion and burdock.

And I agree with the OP. Zürich is so dreadful that poor people are forced to live in shanty towns - like this one as seen yesterday.

I thought with the picture you were going to complain about how many sunken boats there are next to the pier...
Those are the remains of the famous marine battle fought in 1568 between the brave men of the Republic und Stände of Zürich and the evil ape-like mercenaries of Schwyz. The Zürchers who were having a coffee by the lakeside under the leadership of their leader, Hulderich Zwingli von Paradeplatz, wanted to go for a shit but were so frustrated at the state in which the ladies of Winterthur had left the toilets that they let out their rage on the approaching mercenary Armada, sinking some of the finest tall sailing ships ever to have graced the beautiful water of Lake Zürich, and at the same time saving the city from total destruction.

A ZVV ticket machine was erected at Central to commemorate this epic battle.

Well the arrow in the pic indicates a very old toilet on the lake. Looks like something from the 18th century. ( most likely under protection )On the stone archway of the toilet is carved " herren " and " damen". Its been in the meantime destroyed by the lakeside tourists and the Swiss. Sad!

The " restaurant" there is call " Pumpstation "

And the offending toilet pic when there was no light and no dirty water covering the floor! Being used as a storage place for the restaurant. JUKKKKK!!

Re: Third World conditions in Zürich

after travelling to actual 3rd world countries, Which is a horrible designation that has little to do with sanitary conditions and more to do with sociopolitical leanings of the government. I can assure you that the fact that there was a toilet at all instead of a hole in the ground shows you that you are indeed in civilized society. One that may be a little lax when it come to cleaning that particular WC

How about the state of Swiss public toilets, omtatsat? Any news?

They should be cleaner now that less people are roaming around, no?

Re: Third World conditions in Zürich [toilets]

I think i may have to go check out the pump station just to see what a 18th century WC looks like after so long in use.
