Fake promotions by SamsungSchweiz

After purchasing s20 and registering for earbuds promotion through their Samsung Members app and providing correct shipping address in Geneva, after approving it, their tracking system started telling me that the address info is missing.

I have literally updated five times the address, even with canton info (no field for canton by the way); there is no way to see what address has been registered after pressing 'submit' button.

Two weeks nothing happens, then I receive another email saying 'we don't have your shipping address, if not updated by end July, we won't be able to ship it'. So of course, I respond via email with the address, via message in their tracking system with the address, and via 'address update' in their tracking system (the one you don't see after pressing 'submit' button).

The tracking status quickly goes back to approved.

Two weeks later nothing happens, but tracking system goes back to 'missing information'.

I update the address again and again, another email with the address to them and finally, another email - 'we don't have CANTON information'

SERIOUSLY???

several more updates, including CANTON information in the narrative address field (remember - there is no separate field for canton); another email with address and canton information, and still nothing.

Current tracking status: 'missing information'

So don't be tricked with any of the Samsung fake promotions. For me, this is an (expensive) lesson learnt - never again with Samsung.

So how exactly does your inability to provide an approbate address represent a fake promotion by Samsung????

It's not a fake competition, it's a real competition backed up by an incompetent customer service and registration system. Samsung customer service, like many giant electronics companies, can be diabolical.

Re: Fake promotions by SamsungSchweiz

The Swiss postal system is simple and efficient. For addresses all we need is:

Name
Street
Street number
Post code
Town or village

Most international companies‘ online address forms can‘t handle this and ask for ‚State‘ or ‚County‘ and run the details in a different order with the post code at the end, before the country.

I suspect that this is where the problem lies. It is certainly not a fake promotion...

I do wonder why people so often reach for "fake" "scam" and even "fraud", when really it's just incompetence on the part of the company they're dealing with. (Or the poster, sometimes).

You don’t even need the Street number or town name, sometimes not even the Street name. TIS

Is it possible for you to try entering the address of a friend or relative here to see if that address will work? (Someone who could then forward the earbuds to you after they arrive).

My statement was that until now - almost two months after purchase and providing correct address at least five times to Samsung, I have not received their promised promotional item.

How do you qualify that?

Looks like you're not the only one who has had problems with Samsung's customer service as well as their earbud promotional thing:

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/.../977220/page/6

It appears that they have an awful reputation for their promotional schemes:

Perhaps. But I don't know that. All I know is that after multiple efforts to provide them with correct information, they can't handle it. If at the end I never receive this item, how would you consider this company but fake?

Cannot agree more. However, their tracking system has specific/separate fields such as:

'Address 1'; 'Address 2'; 'Zip code'; 'City/town';

(no field for the canton information, though).

So I entered my regular address where I am registered and reside (this is not a sublet, it is regularly rented flat from the regie) and where of course I get all my mails, bills, pay electricity; the same address is entered in my carte grisse, and even in my post.ch account... so it works perfectly fine for everyone but Samsung.

(and again, after some weeks they dare telling me 'Canton information is missing' ??)

Perhaps. But not my problem if they are incompetent - for me, this promotion and everything else from Samsung will be fake until I receive what their promise. Simple contract law.

Why would I do that?

All items I order online come regularly to my address and never had a problem with anyone but Samsung. And I guess you could imagine what confusion I would cause if I attempt to provide another address now.

It was just a suggestion ... in case the problem was with your address not being recognized by their 'system.' But from what I see in reviews, etc., it sounds like the problem is more that Samsung doesn't have its shit together.

Good luck.

Occam's Razor. Never attribute to malice what can be explained by simple incompetence.

Perhaps they are incompetent.

However, the sole reason why I bought their product now was due to this promotion. There were other alternatives but this promotion was decisive factor for me.

So that makes a contractual obligation on their part. If they fail to deliver due to their incompetence, this is their problem, not mine. Hence, for me this will be fake until they fulfill their contractual obligation.

When you purchase an item from an online store, and never gets delivered, I guess you would also give them credit for their incompetence instead of calling them fake?

There is no incompetence on the side of the poster (in this case), this is sure.

So when you purchase something online and never gets delivered to you, you consider this 'really just incompetence on the part of the company you are dealing with' and accept that you would never receive the purchased item?

Well yes, of course I would.

Making a default assumption that any known online shop, let alone a huge multinational like Samsung, would be putting their reputation on the line by perpetrating a "fake" of this sort is patently ridiculous.

You purchased the handy and it got delivered. Did I understand that correctly?

This promotion thing for ear buds seems to have ended 29.3.2020.
