Some of the rules are just so idiotic. In a hotel right now, and it so idiotic that you have the wear the mask on the 10 m to the breakfast buffet or when going to your room - but obviously not when sitting down on a table and talking for hours.

And half of the people are anyhow wearing it ineffectively.
Better than all wearing them ineffectively.

I went to a restaurant for the first time in ages and forget to put my mask on as I entered. I was reminded - no problem. But it did strike me as somewhat amusing that I put it on for the five metres to the table and then took it off. And then had my certificate checked.

or why resurrect the thread to say they don't give a damn
Because he cares. Cares deeply. What about, we're not quite sure, but I think it's Otec's ego.

Nice to see you've put ,, tolerant''. But if you ever receive obscene comments or PMs, please let us know, and we'll deal with it.

So what is the correct thing to do if you go to the bog? Wear mask from table to bog door then - do you remove the mask whilst inside doing your business, or keep it on? I put it in my pocket - and put it back on after washing hands prior to returning to the table.

Re: Mask dodgers

Newly arrived from Japan and our whole family has been making mask observations of what we've seen in Geneva and a bit of Vaud (Mies) over the past few days.

1. Thank you! Most people here are really reasonable with mask wearing: in shops (Lidl, Coop, Denner, Migros, Decathlon) we've yet to notice anyone unmasked - middle age men with their face d!cks out, errr noses, occasionally... what is it with middle aged men and their noses out of masks, globally (at least the US, Canada, Germany, Switzerland and Japan)?

2. Public transport - everybody masked (other than the kids of a Japanese/Western family, who's overall conduct on the bus and at the stop made our nine year old cringe - she's used to being judged in Japan, so never misbehaves in public).

3. Streets - so much more sensible than in Japan. In Japan, almost everyone makes a big show of wearing a mask outdoors or while biking (parks are largely closed so doesn't factor). Yet the old men, truck drivers, and other "macho" types will refuse to wear them anywhere, anywhere at all. When biking on trails or away from crowded areas, my kid and I biked maskless, and would get glares from five to ten meters away.
In Geneva, most are unmasked when walking but have them at the ready on chins or in hands for entering shops or other encounters. We remask when it gets crowded (maybe at a traffic signal near Cornavin) and nobody cares, some mask and some don't, but it's not unpleasant.
In the station, most are masked, other than the teenage druggie who was hassling and accosting folks (he bothered me too, but didn't ask for cash, so possibly just off his gourd). And the teen who zipped through on a scooter... those guys exist everywhere, don't they? I'm sure there were others, but nothing awful.

4. Parks were filled with folks who where enjoying the weather, mainly unmasked, wine and beer and coffee were plentiful at sidewalk cafes, people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Such a difference from Japan, where alcohol sales have been largely banned anywhere but supermarkets, parks closed, sidewalk cafes are rare, and most restaurants operating on very limited schedules for the past several months.

Also, we are vaccinated, and so just headed out into the city after we settled in. In Japan, even if vaccinated and showing a negative PCR test, mandatory ten to fourteen day quarantines are in effect for everyone except for DJs (who are considered vital workers at alcohol free daytime festivals - google DJ Zedd if you don't understand).

All in all, quite happy to be here, and like the sensible way most folks in our area are working together during this pandemic.

I wear mine when not at a table.

Oh the horror! All those germs contaminating my mask. I think I'll just stay home.

I keep mine on, I figured that was more hygienic than fiddling about taking it off and on again in the bogs.

Re: Mask dodgers

vaccines are not 100%

masks are not 100%

if you want to protect others, do not go out. get your groceries delivered. don't go on holidays, don't go to work if you can work from home. don't go to restaurants. don't leave the house for: pub, cafe, cinema. don't make unnecessary trips. these are all luxuries.

of course, some people might find that they care more about their luxuries than helping to protect others.

others may find that they care more for their comfort in not wearing a mask than helping to protect others.

but if you are going to put others at risk for your luxuries, then try at least to not be a hypocritical knob that harps on about other people not wearing masks for their comfort while you sit there in the restaurant not wearing a mask because you think that dining out is more important than the health of others.

Re: Mask dodgers

just got my covid certificate....Something hasn't been clear to me though, if you are in a 3G area, are masks required? I know in the gym it was not required prior to the certificates but what about restaurants; is it possible to walk around unmasked?

EXIT is very very cheap. You are confusing it with Dignitas! 40.- a year, then everything is free, totally
