Zurich All Zone Season Ticket

I have this ticket from Feb 2020 and it covers all zones - Cost 2226 SFR

I have not used it since March as we were all home office and I went in to ask for it to be suspended or refunded

I was basically told that is not possible and it is worth nothing - Is that true??

I feel like I paid for a full season ticket but did not use it this year at all

Re: Zurich All Zone Season Ticket

Not sure if you're asking if you can get a refund retrospectively, to which the answer is definitely no.

You also can't cancel the card during the year, or even suspend it like you can with a GA:

https://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/service/cu...work-pass.html

I wonder if you could convert it to one with the minimum number of zones and get a refund?

Re: Zurich All Zone Season Ticket

As far as I know the yearly cards got extended for free by a couple of weeks but thats it. And it makes sense. Its not the ZVVs fault and they are operating. That you chose not to use it is your personal decision.
Just cancel it in time to make sure you won't have to pay for an additional year.

Re: Zurich All Zone Season Ticket

Do the tickets auto renew?

Its no ones fault of course but I paid for using the train Monday to Friday - I have not been doing that for preety much the whole year... since march

So everyone has just swallowed the transport costs have they and written them off as a gift to SBB?

Pretty much. Just like the concerts that I’ve paid for, but are ‘postponed indefinitely’ and IMHO will never take place.

I believe the expression is ‘shit happens’.

They are still running the trains, so it's not just a gift they have costs, and if they did refund them all they'd probably need a government handout which we'd end up paying anyway.

Re: Zurich All Zone Season Ticket

You can definitely return your ticket and be refunded the remainder of the validity (the months left from today until Feb 2021). I know because I bought an annual ticket in June and returned in August for a refund of around 10 months worth.

Please don't post stuff without a reference, it's not useful, and please don't post untranslated German.

I think that's from the SBB site referring to SBB ticket, which was not the question - ZVV have different rules.

Well, it is not easy to copy a link and attach it and put quotes and whatnots when typing from a phone. Some of us are actually working and occasionally coming to this forum to help people out.

Mods can come and remove my post or delete the quoted text if they wish.

You could have just posted the English version.

The link is here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-an...avelcards.html

And it isn't relevant for this thread for the reason I stated.

I would have liked to give you a medal.

Re: Zurich All Zone Season Ticket

This thread from some years back suggests that ZVV passes are also refundable:

https://www.englishforum.ch/transpor...ss-refund.html

Furthermore the link below clearly says that ZVV passes can be refunded.

https://www.fahrplanzvv.ch/zvv/de/se...rstattung.html

But instead of appreciating my contribution, some people choose to nitpick and what is worse, provide incorrect information.

The link you copied here is about depositing it (hinlegen) which means to suspend not refund.

Exactly - it covers all the options and refund isn't one of them.

You obviously have a comprehension problem.

I have provided enough useful info here that prove ZVV passes are refundable. I leave the OP to read though them and make his own decision whether to follow your advice or mine.

Thanks for the link to an actual valid point - that wasn't so hard?

For some reason this isn't referenced on the list of FAQs on the ZVV site, but it does exist on their official site. So I'm not really sure of the status of this point.

https://www.zvv.ch/zvv/de/service/ku...rstattung.html

Unfortunately the ZVV link in the other thread no longer works, the rest is about SBB.

Suppose you had bought a car and you were paying a loan on it. Then covid-19 happens and you don't drive the car for 6 months. Would you call the car dealer who sold you the car to ask for a refund equivalent to the 6 months of loan repayments?

That you are not using the public transport was not CFF's fault, the trains kept running and, although for a few weeks train travel was not recommended, at no point the government forbid travelling by train to work.

Re: Zurich All Zone Season Ticket

The ZVV refund process does not include retroactive refunds.

With risk, effort and great cost, ZVV continued operation (albeit with limited service) throughout the lockdown providing an essential service for many people, including many essential workers. Check point 9.1.2. There is a bunch of additional information that may also apply to your case.

The ZVV website states that you can obtain a refund for a yearly ticket and that the refund will be for the time between when you give back the ticket and when the ticket expires. This information is not available in english, but you can put it into an online translate program.

I've bought a new suit in February but couldn't wear it because of working from home during the lock down. Is there a way to get my money back?

It doesn't matter what your emotions on the subject are, ZVV and SBB do offer a refund for the time remaining until the expiry date.

jazh, I have clearly stated that a refund is offered for the remaining period. I doubt the OP is asking for a refund for the past months since March. If he is, of course this won't be possible but from today to February 2021 the pro-rated amount can and will be refunded.
